About The Position

The General Studies Program in the Office of Faculty Advancement and Student Success at San Diego State University is accepting applications for their part-time lecturer pool. They welcome applications from prospective temporary faculty with expertise or experience in various academic fields. Temporary appointments may be either full- or part-time, and are often made just prior to the start of the academic term, requiring applicants to be available on very short notice. The Fall term begins mid-August and ends late-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available. Initial appointments are typically one semester or one academic year, to be renewed contingent on satisfactory evaluations and continuing availability of work. Applications will remain in the applicant pool during the academic year you apply.

Requirements

  • Graduate degree in an academic field including liberal arts and sciences and education (for lower division courses)
  • University teaching experience including active learning and hybrid modalities (for lower division courses)
  • Graduate degree in an academic field including liberal arts and sciences and education, with demonstrated experience or expertise in interdisciplinary methodologies, internships, undergraduate research, and / or community engaged learning (for upper division courses)
  • University teaching experience including active learning and hybrid modalities (for upper division courses)

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience or expertise in teaching, research, or service connected to underrepresented communities in higher education (for lower division courses)
  • Demonstrated currency in subject matters including Business Administration, Engineering, Leadership, or any of the STEM or Allied Health Careers (for lower division courses)
  • Terminal degree in an academic field including liberal arts and sciences and education, with demonstrated experience or expertise in interdisciplinary methodologies, internships, undergraduate research, and / or community engaged learning (for upper division courses)
  • Demonstrated experience or expertise in teaching, research, or service connected to underrepresented communities in higher education (for upper division courses)
