Operations Quality has an opening for a Factory Quality Engineer who will interface with the factory teams supporting production, first article inspections, creating/maintaining work/inspection instructions, and preparation for audits. The position is based in Tucson, AZ and requires onsite presence. The quality engineer responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Verify product and process compliance with respect to contractual, technical, industry, AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and internal policies. Develop strong working relationships with the factory leadership, program leadership, and DCMA. Regularly generate and publish Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) metrics. Facilitate and lead cross-functional team in failure analysis, Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations, including identifying non-conformances, providing solutions, tracking issues to closure and leading Corrective Action Boards (CAB). Ensure identification, physical control, and disposition of non-conforming material and facilitate Material Review Board (MRB) when necessary. Support work instruction development and maintenance activities by reviewing work instructions, test instructions, auditing processes, and assuring configuration management. Development and maintenance of inspection instructions, ensuring inspection instructions meet the technical data package requirements and meet production needs. Regularly interface with Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA). Daily status meetings with the factory support, factory management, hourly employees, and internal stakeholders to manage issue. Conduct weekly meetings to help reduce cost of poor quality and facilitate timely red rack dispositions.
