About The Position

RTX is seeking an experienced Factory Quality Engineer to join the Effectors Operations Quality team in Tucson, AZ. This role supports a fast-paced, multi-value stream factory and requires a motivated self-starter capable of driving quality requirements, manufacturing objectives, continuous improvement, and achieving results in a matrixed environment. The successful candidate will support a manufacturing effort in a challenging and dynamic environment where successful quality execution is a key contributor to overall success. The position is onsite in Tucson, AZ and requires a Secret security clearance. As this position is 2nd shift, an 8% shift differential will be provided with a 12 Noon start time. The work schedule is a 9/80, meaning every other Friday is off.

Requirements

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with two years of relevant experience.
  • Relevant experience is work in Quality, Operations, Engineering or related technical discipline.
  • Experience with interpreting engineering drawings, work instructions, and/or manufacturing process experience in one of the following areas (assembly, inspection, and/or test).
  • Experience with AS9100 and/or ISO 9001 quality management systems.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain an ATF (Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) clearance prior to the start date.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Competency and experience in a relevant technical discipline with understanding of engineering principles and design analysis techniques.
  • Experience in leading cross-functional teams in auditing process and product/process improvements in the factory or at suppliers.
  • Experience in Product/Process Failure Modes & Affects Analysis, Regression Analysis.
  • Experience with AS9102 First Article Inspection Requirements.
  • Experience with Bill of Materials (BOMs) and consumable materials control.
  • Experience with AS9145 - Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
  • High computer proficiency, including skills working with Microsoft Tools (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio).
  • ASQ Certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Verify product and process compliance with respect to contractual, technical, industry, AS9100 Quality Management System (QMS) requirements and internal policies.
  • Develop strong working relationships with touch labor, factory leadership, program leadership, and DCMA.
  • Regular data analysis; development and usage of actionable metrics.
  • Generation and publication of Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ) metrics.
  • Facilitate and lead cross-functional teams in failure analysis, Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations, including identifying non-conformances, providing solutions, tracking issues to closure, and leading Corrective Action Boards (CAB).
  • Ensure identification, physical control, and disposition of non-conforming material and facilitate Material Review Board (MRB) when necessary.
  • Support work instruction development and maintenance activities by reviewing work instructions, test instructions, auditing processes, and assuring configuration management.
  • Development and maintenance of inspection instructions, ensuring inspection instructions meet the technical data package requirements and production needs.
  • Development and release of First Article Inspections (FAIs) in accordance with AS9102.
  • Regularly interface with Defense Contract Management Agency (DCMA) and internal stakeholders to manage issues.
  • Conduct weekly meetings to help reduce cost of poor quality and facilitate timely red rack dispositions.
