About The Position

Under minimal supervision, the Facility Technician II participates in advanced skilled maintenance of the facility operations, such as: systems of plumbing, HVAC, refrigeration and electrical, steam/boiler, fire alarm and sprinkler, medical gas, and building automation. The Facility Technician II performs a wide variety of preventative and or corrective maintenance duties, inspections, diagnosis and testing, installation, and repairs of the facility mechanical systems. The Facility Technician II will be involved in the provision of security services in the organization.

Requirements

  • Demonstrates eligibility for employment in the U.S.
  • Associate degree in one or more of the following: Mechanical Systems, HVAC Refrigeration, Plumbing and/or certifications, or equivalent years of experience and aptitude within these trades required
  • A valid Wisconsin driver’s license is required
  • Ability to meet the minimum qualifications required by the organization’s insurance underwriter to be eligible for coverage under the company’s vehicle insurance policy is required

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 10 General Industry education preferred
  • Previous experience performing maintenance in a hospital environment is preferred
  • Experience working in a related area preferred
  • Must possess a cell phone that interfaces the organization’s secure message system

Responsibilities

  • Perform basic troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of mechanical systems including heating, cooling, ventilation, plumbing, and utility systems
  • Perform minor painting and surface preparation tasks including patching, sanding, priming, and applying paint to walls, ceilings, doors, and other facility surfaces as needed to maintain a clean, safe, and professional environment
  • Respond promptly to all facility alarms and emergency situations—including fire, mechanical, security, building automation alerts, disasters, and bomb threats—and perform all related tasks as specified in the safety manual
  • Perform snow and ice removal duties on facility grounds, including sidewalks, and entryways to ensure safe passage for patients, staff, and emergency vehicles
  • Complete preventative maintenance work orders generated by the electronic maintenance work order system
  • Observe meter and gauges and adjust valves and other controls to regulate flow of water and steam, to meet the need for all functions within the organization
  • Check all mechanical equipment rooms during the respective shift and record readings in a logbook or other required form
  • Read, understand and carry out Method of Procedures
  • Assist with security on organizational grounds as needed
  • Use force, when necessary, to defend oneself or others in response to providing security as needed
  • Collaborate with organizational security personnel and law enforcement agencies as needed by providing access to secure mechanical areas, assisting with investigations involving facility infrastructure
  • Participate in the department’s on-call rotation and respond promptly to call-ins to ensure continuous patient care and surgical support as needed
  • Use the organization's secure messaging platform in accordance with departmental protocols, including timely receipt and responses to communications
  • Perform other duties as assigned
