About The Position

The Campus Recreation & Fitness Facility Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the recreation facility, including checking IDs, supervising scanning, verifying status in the Odyssey system, and checking out equipment. This role involves ensuring patrons wear appropriate footwear, administering first aid and CPR when necessary, conducting facility rounds, and filing reports. The supervisor will manage the opening and closing procedures for the facility, including the BodyWorks fitness center, and process memberships, guest passes, and day passes according to policy. They will also report safety and maintenance issues to professional staff, ensure equipment is properly checked out and returned, and follow the cubby locker key checkout procedure. A key responsibility is to ensure only authorized individuals and their guests use the facilities. The supervisor must be knowledgeable of emergency procedures for contacting emergency services and Campus Safety, and enforce all facility rules and policies of Campus Recreation while on duty. Distractions such as cell phones, electronic devices, studying, reading, or having visitors are not permitted while on duty. Additional duties include assisting with laundry room tasks, attending all scheduled trainings and meetings, securing substitutes for shifts, and writing incident and accident reports as needed.

Requirements

  • Must have current certification in first aid and community CPR/AED or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Check IDs and supervise scanning of IDs.
  • Verify status in the Odyssey system.
  • Check out equipment.
  • Ensure only clean sneakers are worn on the gym floor.
  • Administer first aid and/or CPR when needed.
  • Make designated rounds of the facility and file reports.
  • Manage the opening and closing procedures of the facility, including the BodyWorks fitness center.
  • Process facility memberships for appropriate users (faculty, staff, spouses, alumni).
  • Process guest and day pass requests according to policy.
  • Administer all other procedures related to memberships.
  • Report safety and maintenance problems to the professional staff.
  • Properly check out equipment and ensure all equipment is returned/picked up at the end of the night.
  • Follow the cubby locker key check out procedure.
  • Ensure only those affiliated with Keene State College, or invited guests, use the facilities.
  • Know emergency procedures for calling an ambulance, fire department, and Campus Safety.
  • Enforce facility rules and policies of Campus Recreation while on duty.
  • Be attentive to everyone entering the facility and eliminate distractions (cell phones, electronic devices, studying, reading, visitors) while on duty.
  • Assist with laundry room duties – washing/drying/folding towels, athletic practice gear and/or uniforms as needed.
  • Attend all scheduled trainings and meetings.
  • Secure subs when unable to work a scheduled shift.
  • Write incident and accident reports as needed.
