About The Position

This position is responsible for identifying and correcting building and equipment issues. The role involves highly complex assignments requiring independent action and initiative in problem-solving and developing recommendations. The technician will act independently to determine methods and procedures for new assignments. They will be responsible for performing installation, preventative maintenance, inspection, repair, and replacement of various equipment, as well as floor and wall repair. The role also requires responding to emergencies efficiently and in a timely manner to effect immediate repairs. Communication with team members, co-workers, employees, contractors, and vendors is essential for obtaining and providing helpful information. Depending on the location, this position may be responsible for the execution and maintenance of ISO 9000, 9001, 14001 and/or other applicable standards within the Quality Management System and Environmental Management System. Requirements

  • Requires 3+ years as a “Facilities Maintenance Worker”.
  • Possession of journey-level certification in areas of commercial or institutional experience for one or more primary fields such as electrical, electronics, mechanical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, or vacuum systems.
  • Ability to work safely with many hand tools, machines, mechanical equipment, pneumatic equipment, electrical equipment, and power tools.
  • Maintains equipment in a safe condition.
  • Follows safety standards in working within the multiple services, such as Electrical safety standards NFPA70E, LOTO & Ark flash, Chemical Hazmat regulations for hazardous materials handling, and wastewater management.
  • All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Corporate EHS standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Education or technical training in related fields for building maintenance through a recognized technical trade school or equivalent, accredited college or university may substitute for up to two (2) years of the required experience, typically acquiring an AA degree.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and corrects building/equipment issues.
  • Works on highly complex assignments requiring independent action and initiative.
  • Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new assignments.
  • Reads and analyzes electrical circuits, wiring ladder diagrams, and interprets blueprints, maintenance manuals, and engineering sketches.
  • Utilizes complicated drawings and specifications and a variety of precision measuring instruments.
  • Performs equipment installs, repairs, calibrations, and service, and replaces electrical devices and power generation devices.
  • Tests electrical components and takes equipment readings with various handheld tools, meters, or recording devices to determine appropriate repairs.
  • Utilizes computer skills for common programs and researches products, equipment, manuals, and parts purchasing.
  • May be required to respond to 24-hour emergency calls for assigned work areas to perform emergency building or equipment repairs during off-duty hours.
  • Repairs, replaces, or installs plumbing systems and components (water, sewer, and drain lines, valves, faucets, etc.) using appropriate materials and tools.
  • Removes blockages to restroom/kitchen facilities to restore flow and drainage using appropriate tools and materials.
  • Performs installation, preventative maintenance, inspection, repair, and replacement of various equipment and floor & wall repair.
  • Responds to emergencies in an efficient and timely manner to effect immediate repairs.
  • Communicates orally with team members, co-workers, employees, contractors, and vendors.
