About The Position

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory (LLNL) is seeking a Facility Projects Mechanical Coordinator with electrical or mechanical experience to support maintenance and construction work in DOE Hazard Category 2 and 3 nuclear facilities and laboratories within the Superblock facility. This role coordinates the field execution of maintenance and construction activities to ensure work is planned, authorized, sequenced, and completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with technical, regulatory, security, and Quality Assurance requirements. This position will report programmatically to the Superblock and administratively to the Defense Technologies Engineering Division (DTED), within the Engineering Directorate. The position may be filled at either level (369.1 or 369.2) based on the candidate's knowledge and experience. This position requires full-time on-site presence due to the nature of the work.

Requirements

  • Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. DOE Q-level security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship
  • Bachelor’s or Associate degree in Engineering or a related technical field, or equivalent experience in construction, operations of facility systems or utility site infrastructure systems.
  • Ability to devise creative solutions for unique and complex problems.
  • Advanced communication skills with proven ability to present concepts and ideas in a clear and coherent manner, both verbal and written
  • Working knowledge of electrical or mechanical systems, including design, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of facility systems.
  • Experience using work process documents, procedures, drawings, specifications, and technical documentation to plan and coordinate maintenance or construction activities.
  • Strong communication skills and working knowledge of safety, security, environmental and regulatory requirements
  • Experienced coordinating maintenance and construction activities from planning through field execution

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate maintenance and construction activities in nuclear and hazardous facilities from planning through field execution and closeout.
  • Support work control functions, including planning, scheduling, sequencing, readiness review, and issue resolution.
  • Verify that personnel, materials, equipment, procedures, and work packages are available and aligned before work begins.
  • Serve as a coordination point between technical staff, project management, operations, Quality Assurance, procurement, vendors, and material handling organizations.
  • Track work progress, resolve field issues, and escalate barriers affecting safety, schedule, quality, or facility operations.
  • Support procurement and material readiness by coordinating with designers, vendors, purchasing, and receiving organizations.
  • Maintain compliance with safety, security, environmental, regulatory, configuration management, and Quality Assurance requirements.
  • Help ensure maintenance and construction activities are executed in alignment with operational priorities and facility constraints.
  • Maintain accurate documentation to support inspections, approvals, turnover, and work closeout.
  • Extensive experience leading complex maintenance and construction work in highly regulated environments, preferably DOE Hazard Category 2 or 3 nuclear facilities.
  • Proven ability to lead planning, inspection, work sequencing, execution, and real-time field issue resolution for significant work scopes.
  • Advanced knowledge of Quality Assurance, pedigree, and regulatory controls, including hold points, work sequencing and required documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence cross-functional teams, advise engineers and managers, and mentor junior coordinators to improve technical and operational performance.
  • Extensive technical and administrative experience, including highly advanced technical and administrative authority in executing construction activities and operations.
  • Extensive experience directing complex fabrications, assemblies, and procurements, including construction projects or similar activities.
  • Highly advanced knowledge of the standards, procedures, and techniques related to maintenance and/or construction project coordination.
