About The Position

Under the direction of the Director and Assistant Director of Buildings and Grounds, the Facility I Operator is responsible for the care and maintenance of the assigned facility including cleaning, maintenance, repairs, and monitoring of systems to ensure safe and effective facility operations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in general carpentry, plumbing and small voltage electrical repair
  • Ability to read and understand technical manuals and operating instructions
  • Proficient in the use of technology, programs and applications
  • Effective organizational, interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills
  • Effective mathematical and record keeping skills
  • Initiative and ability to work without close supervision
  • Ability to adapt to new and changing situations
  • Ability to contribute to a positive work environment
  • Competent working in a diverse environment
  • Frequent walking, standing, squatting, crouching, kneeling and bending
  • Ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 lbs. regularly and over 50 lbs. occasionally
  • Ability to climb and work from a ladder, scaffolding and personal lift
  • Ability to push, pull and reach above shoulder

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with direct digital control systems, fire alarm systems and HVAC preferred
  • Certified Pool Operator (CPO) certification or ability to obtain within 6 months (required for Summit Middle School)

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and participates in the general cleaning and maintenance of assigned facility
  • Monitors all boilers, systems and equipment and addresses operational issues
  • Completes general carpentry, plumbing, electrical repairs and painting
  • Assists with remodeling and renovation projects
  • Performs equipment repair
  • Reports major damage and repairs of school property and equipment to the building principal or Director of Buildings & Grounds
  • Maintains inventory and follows district and department guidelines for requisition and receipt of supplies and equipment
  • Ensures work orders and reports are completed in a timely manner
  • Ensures all exit doors and panic bars are operational and functioning properly
  • Assists with emergency situations and performs emergency cleaning and repairs
  • Assists with general maintenance of school grounds
  • Daily raising and lowering of flags
  • Performs snow removal of sidewalks, entryways and dock area
  • Performs routine safety checks of facility and playground
  • Assists with general fire safety of the facility
  • Assists contractors and evaluates work completion
  • Performs routine roof inspections
  • Works collaboratively with district directors, building administrators, and administrative personnel
  • Assists building principal with development of Capital Improvement Plan
  • Completes all required training
  • Cleans corridors, classrooms and bathrooms as needed
  • Assists in the development of standard operating procedures and training plans
  • Assists in moving classroom furniture, materials and equipment
  • Safely stores equipment, supplies and tools
  • Engages in professional development related to job functions and responsibilities
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned
