About The Position

At Stony Brook Medicine, a Facility Operations Assistant 1 - Supply Management Services performs a variety of routine manual tasks, requiring medium to heavy physical effort, to assist in maintaining, constructing, and repairing buildings, roads, offices, other structures, furniture, facilities, and grounds. This position is full-time with an evening shift from 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM. Stony Brook Medicine is a smoke-free environment, and smoking is strictly prohibited anywhere on campus. All hospital positions may be subject to changes in pass days and shifts as necessary. This position may require the wearing of respiratory protection, which may prohibit facial hair. This function/position may be designated as “essential,” meaning employees may be required to remain at or report to work during institutional emergencies to protect, recover, and continue operations. Prior to the start date, the selected candidate must successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination, obtain medical clearance, complete an electronic reference check with a minimum of three professional references, successfully complete a 4-panel drug screen, meet regulatory requirements for pre-employment screenings, and provide a copy of any required New York State license(s)/certificate(s). Failure to comply with these requirements could result in a delayed start date and/or revocation of the employment offer. The hiring department will be responsible for any fee incurred for examinations.

Requirements

  • Must be physically able to perform the duties assigned.
  • Possession of a valid New York State drivers license may be required.
  • The ability to read, speak, write and understand verbal communication at a basic level.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or equivalency.
  • Valid Powered Industrial Truck Operator Permit.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience and knowledge of warehouse inventory protocols.
  • Knowledge of Medical/Surgical inventory supplies.
  • Working knowledge of inventory reconciliation.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time.
  • Capable of lifting over 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Breaking down & restocking of all incoming bulk inventory.
  • Place stock to be stored in large and/or heavy cases on warehouse shelving.
  • Check all stock against physical inventory to assure correct amounts vs. item location.
  • Inspect and verify stock expiration dates and rotate inventory as needed.
  • Fill requisition supply orders for the hospital and off-site locations.
  • Deliver requisitioned supplies to the hospital’s Units.
  • Assist front-end desk with nursing stat supply requisitions.
  • Assist with controlling of Materials management’s inventory by performing daily Cycle counts and supply reconciliation.
  • Assist with conducting physical inventory audit of warehouse supplies.
  • Assist with other duties, as assigned.
