About The Position

The Facility Materials Manager is responsible for projecting supply needs, managing inventory levels, ordering and releasing supplies, and serving as a liaison between the company and external suppliers. This role involves long-term projections, maintaining inventory targets, and coordinating with various internal departments (Plant Manager, Purchasing, Auditors, Finance, Production, QA) and external partners (Vendors, Carriers, On-Site Bottle Supplier). Additional duties may include managing kosher inspections, ingredient audits, waste management, coordinating ingredient orders with other facilities, monitoring obsolete supplies, requesting extensions for aged raw materials, and working with vendors on defective materials. The role also involves obtaining proper documentation for raw materials and coordinating materials for fresh pack, including bulk ingredients, sweeteners, and releasing rail cars.

Requirements

  • 4-year degree in Economics, Accounting, Business, Or any related field
  • 3 years Purchasing experience (if degreed)
  • 5 years Purchasing experience (if no degree)
  • Computer proficient – specifically with ERP systems, Excel.
  • Good Math Skills

Responsibilities

  • Projecting supply needs

  • Scheduled materials arrivals
  • Maintain inventory levels (min/max inventory, target inventory goals)
  • Manage Fresh Pack/Paste Pack paste inventory
  • Ordering & Releasing Supplies
  • Communicate with internal departments (Plant Manager, Purchasing, Warehouse, Auditors, Finance, Production, QA) regarding purchasing needs, space/storage requirements, and timing of purchases concerning budgets.
  • Communicate with external vendors regarding coordination of upcoming supplies.
  • Coordinate with carriers for pickup and delivery timing.
  • Serve as direct liaison between Red Gold and On-Site Bottle Supplier (Graham Packaging) for Elwood facility.
  • Manage Kosher duties - inspections with the Rabbi of ingredients and Good Manufacturing Processes.
  • Conduct Ingredient Audits - monthly.
  • Manage waste management - removal for all facilities.
  • Coordinate ingredient orders with the other two manufacturing facilities.
  • Monitor obsolete/slow moving supplies.
  • Request ingredient extensions for aged raw materials.
  • Work with vendors concerning defective materials.
  • Work with plant Production/QA teams to establish defect rates of materials.
  • Assist with Hold and Release of raw materials.
  • Obtain proper documentation of raw materials from suppliers.
  • Coordinate materials for Fresh Pack as applicable per facility.
  • Manage Bulk Ingredients Trucks - Bulk Sweeteners.
  • Manage Rail - Releasing of rail cars from suppliers to meet contracted requirements.
