About The Position

Performs routine and extensive preventative maintenance and repairs on YMCA buildings, mechanical equipment, and grounds. General responsibilities include but are not limited to overseeing the day-to-day operation and maintenance of facilities, as well as their ongoing preservation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of responsible experience in building and mechanical equipment maintenance and repair; or an acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Good skill in the use of hand and power tools.
  • Working knowledge of mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems, carpentry, and other maintenance related areas.
  • Adhere to drug/alcohol/smoke free workplace policy
  • Able to prioritize and meet deadlines
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Successfully complete State of Florida Criminal History Background Check requirements as well as meet the Association’s policies on background screening
  • CPR and First Aid Certifications required
  • Annual Completion of YMCA Blood Borne Pathogens Training
  • Annual Completion of YMCA Child Sexual Abuse Prevention class
  • Staff Safety Requirements/Cleaning Protocols
  • Pool Operator Certification
  • Additional training classes as recommended by Supervisor

Responsibilities

  • Plans, coordinates, and supervises the operation of the assigned facility, including access, custodial, grounds, HVAC, maintenance and repair of the facilities, safety, and security.
  • Inspects facilities daily; troubleshoots and performs repairs to Building Trades (carpentry, painting, locks, roofs, windows, ceilings, flooring) and MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) deficiencies.
  • Oversees facility grounds, landscaping, and pool maintenance.
  • Responds to and arrests emergency maintenance concerns as required.
  • Identifies potential safety hazards and mitigates risk exposure related to grounds and physical structures.
  • Conducts preventative maintenance to HVAC equipment and building systems.
  • Conducts severe weather preparation.
  • Transports, relocates, or disposes of office equipment and furniture.
  • Consults with outside vendors for estimates on repairs and replacements.
  • Orders maintenance supplies, materials, and parts as needed.
  • Oversees quarterly and annual systems inspections, as required.
  • Monitors site cleanliness and escalates concerns to Facilities Dept. leadership.
  • Travels to other Association properties, as needed.
  • Responsible for upholding all staff safety requirements including cleaning protocols throughout the day, as required by my department.
  • Other duties as assigned.
