We’re searching for a Facility Manager to join the Recreational Sports team in Blacksburg, VA to help us in our mission. The position plays a crucial role in ensuring the facility’s efficient and safe functioning, creating a positive environment for all Virginia Tech patrons, and contributing to the overall success of the department. HERE'S WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT THE ROLE: You’ll be joining the Recreational Sports team; a department that enhances the quality of life for the university community by educating and encouraging participation in activities that promote healthy lifestyles, social interactions, and leadership skills. You’ll report to the Assistant Director of Facility Operations. This position is a Regular twelve-month, 100% Staff appointment. You’ll be primarily responsible for the overall management, supervision, and daily operation of the facility. You'll provide leadership in facility operations, staff supervision, risk management, and customer experience to ensure a safe, efficient, and high-quality environment for all users. You’ll have the chance to grow and take advantage of a developmental plan with opportunities to advance within the Department and the Division. You’ll be offered a base compensation package between $50,000 to $55,000 with a comprehensive benefits package that includes health insurance, paid leave, retirement, tuition assistance, VT discounts, and so much more!

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Recreation, Facility Management, Sport Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience in facility operations, campus recreation, or a similar environment.
Demonstrated leadership and supervisory experience.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of risk management, facility operations, and customer service best practices.
CPR/AED and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain upon hire).
Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

Nice To Haves

Master’s degree in Sports Administration, Recreation, Business, or a related field.
Demonstrated previous supervisory experience, preferably with student and/or part-time staff.
