About The Position

Benchmark Behavioral Health System Hawaii is a 10-bed behavioral health facility that serves adolescent (male and female) in a residential setting. The Facility Manager - Environment of Care/Safety Officer plays an essential role in providing a safe and secure environment for the clients we serve and our staff. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work with a professional team invested in improving the lives of the clients served.

Requirements

  • Resume and Two References Required
  • Knowledge of the general construction trades, mechanical repair and maintenance, and the requirement of institutional maintenance of comparable sized facilities.
  • Graduation from a standard high school or equivalent and completion of specialized course work or training in institutional or facilities maintenance.
  • Knowledge of Information Technology.
  • Must be willing and physically capable of responding to a physically aggressive client using the CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention method. This procedure may include but is not limited to kneeling, squatting, bending, and lifting.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer applicants who have 3 plus years of experience with Joint Commission surveys and standards, working with regulatory agencies such as OSHA, Fire Marshall standards and inspections, life safety codes, building codes, etc.
  • Prefer a minimum of 3 years’ experience in facilities management and safety management including supervisory experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe and secure environment for our clients and staff.
  • Create a Planned Maintenance System (PMS) for the facility as well as repair work such as painting, plumbing, carpentry, drywall, furniture assembly, mechanical, etc.
  • Anticipate needed repairs, upgrades, etc., to avoid future costs.
  • Ensure the facility is compliant with local, state, and federal regulatory codes, OSHA standards, The Joint Commission standards, fire and life safety codes, building and engineering requirements and security standards.
  • Schedule company vehicles maintenance and safety checks.
  • Coordinate with Vendors and Department of Health for building repairs.
  • Inspects building to minimize clients’ opportunity to self-harm/suicidal behaviors.
  • Responding to maintenance requests in a timely and courteous manner.
  • Minor electrical tasks such as repairing/replacing lighting, fixtures, outlets, thermostats, timers, etc.
  • Plumbing tasks such as replacing faucets, sinks, toilets, valves, using a variety of equipment such as plumbing snake, soldering iron, propane torch, etc.
  • Carpentry/drywall skills such as installing moldings, doors, painting, wall repair, etc.
  • Capable of maintaining a maintenance log and managing multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication and time management skills and be able to work off hours when an emergency occurs.
