About The Position

DuPont's Water & Protection division is seeking a Facility Maintenance Technician for its manufacturing site in Minneapolis, MN. This role is crucial for operating, monitoring, and maintaining facilities and utilities, including HVAC, RO water machines, and process equipment. The technician will also utilize skilled trades like plumbing and carpentry, troubleshoot and repair mechanical components and electrical equipment, and manage spare parts inventory. Collaboration with engineers to improve facilities processes is also a key aspect of this position. The ideal candidate will have a passion for delivering innovative, sustainable solutions.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Minimum two (2) years of relevant work experience
  • Ability to work in a self-directed environment and as a team player
  • Ability to perform and detect problems in the building and equipment as well as operate and/or utilize tools used in the maintenance process
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Word and Excel, and can learn new systems quickly is preferred
  • A valid state driver’s license is required
  • Strong mathematical, and written/verbal communication skills are essential
  • Ability to read, comprehend and follow oral and written procedures and instructions
  • Ability to perform the requirements of this position, must be able to perform the essential functions of the job in a safe and efficient manner
  • Proven mechanical ability
  • Must be willing to adhere to all safety standards, and exhibit a strong commitment to safety for themselves and for others
  • Lift and/or carry up to 45 lbs, climb ladders and stairs and move throughout the plant, wear proper personal protective equipment (PPE) with or without accommodation

Responsibilities

  • Operating, monitoring, and maintaining facilities and utilities, including HVAC, RO water machines, and process equipment.
  • Utilizing skilled trades such as plumbing or carpentry.
  • Maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing mechanical components and electrical equipment and systems in accordance with SOPs, internal requirements, manufacturer's specifications, and safety policies.
  • Developing, maintaining, and securing a spare parts inventory of basic maintenance hand and power tools.
  • Recommending purchases of maintenance tools, equipment, and supplies as required to streamline processes and increase efficiency.
  • Working with engineers in developing methods and procedures to control and/or improve facilities processes.
  • Performing general and preventive maintenance on building infrastructure, including garage doors, lunchroom water machines, building lighting, auto flushers, and auto sink faucets.
  • Maintaining and repairing building and building equipment, such as roof, doors, steps, walls, and sidewalks.
  • Conducting routine maintenance checks, installing equipment, diagnosing problems, and repairing equipment.
  • Performing electrical work, plumbing, and welding as needed.
  • Ordering parts and supplies.
  • Maintaining accurate written and computer-generated records, completing written work orders, and maintaining records of purchase.
  • Advising department on routine maintenance recommendations of equipment.
  • Performing overtime as needed.
