About The Position

This position involves performing a variety of maintenance and cleaning tasks to ensure the upkeep of facilities. The role may include supervising custodians, performing detailed cleaning of various surfaces and fixtures, operating cleaning equipment, and assisting with furniture and equipment movement. The technician is expected to adhere to safety standards and perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

High school graduation or other equivalent (i.e., General Educational Development (GED), foreign equivalency, etc.).
Six (6) months experience as a maintenance personnel; or, One (1) year experience (District, out-of-district, or a combination of both) as maintenance personnel.
Knowledge of custodial supplies and equipment.
Ability to supervise assigned staff.
Ability to plan and organize work.
Ability to understand written and oral instructions.
Ability to operate and maintain custodial equipment.
Ability to perform physically demanding work.
Ability to climb ladders for cleaning and changing of lights.
Ability to work flexible work schedules.
Ability to work cooperatively with employees, students, and the public.
Ability to recognize and report hazards and apply safe work methods.
Possess physical and mental stamina commensurate with the responsibilities of the position.

Responsibilities

Supervises custodians on an assigned shift or has responsibility for a special complex or facility.
Washes and scrubs walls, lavatory fixtures, windows, drinking fountains, drains, lights, light fixtures, and painted surfaces.
Services soap dispensers, towel boxes, and similar containers.
Cleans floors by vacuuming, sweeping, mopping, polishing, or scrubbing.
Removes spots and graffiti from floors, walls, woodwork, furniture, carpets, and fixtures.
Empties and cleans wastepaper baskets and other refuse containers.
Operates power sweepers, polishers, and other power equipment.
Moves and adjusts chairs, desks, tables, supplies, furniture, and changes lights, as needed.
May be required to move, assemble, or disassemble furniture, equipment, or other items, or to assist other crafts in an emergency, or as the need arises.
Cleans and shampoos rugs and carpets.
Conforms to safety standards, as prescribed.
Performs other tasks related to the position, as assigned.
