About The Position

U-Haul is hiring a Facility Maintenance Technician in Houston, Texas. The technician works with other technicians on maintenance and construction projects, applying technical skills while sharing knowledge and learning new skills. Duties include inspecting, maintaining, and building facilities; general maintenance, installation, repair, and service; preventive maintenance and semiannual roof inspections at various sites; and completing work requests professionally and on time. The role also involves using hand and power tools, keeping track of a company truck and gas card, and participating in ongoing training through U-Haul University. The position involves working indoors and outdoors, around moving parts, machinery, fumes, or irritant chemicals, and may require protective gear. Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship. U-Haul states that it will not hire or re-hire nicotine-product users in Texas and other listed states.

Requirements

Experience in at least one of the following areas: electrical, A/C, HVAC, plumbing, or landscaping.
Valid driver's license.
D.O.T. certification; U-Haul can sponsor certification.
Must be 18 or older.
Must be legally authorized to work without employer sponsorship.
U-Haul will not hire or re-hire nicotine-product users in Texas.

Responsibilities

Inspect, maintain, and build new buildings.
Perform general maintenance, installation, repair, and service.
Perform preventive maintenance inspections and semiannual roof inspections at various sites.
Use a variety of hand and power tools.
Collaborate and share knowledge with other Facility Maintenance Technicians on complex projects.
Complete work requests in a timely and professional manner.
Keep track of the company truck and gas card.
Participate in ongoing U-Haul education through U-Haul University.
