About The Position

Performs a variety of routine building maintenance tasks including carpentry, electrical, heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC), plumbing, and general cleaning. This role requires a HS diploma and 5 years of work experience demonstrating the ability to perform the duties of the position. The position involves working both indoors and outdoors with moderate safety considerations from physical labor, use of power equipment, temperature and noise extremes, and exposure to vibration, electricity, and mechanical moving parts. This is a Safety Sensitive position subject to drug testing.

Requirements

  • HS diploma and 5 years’ work experience demonstrating the ability to perform the duties of the position.
  • Working knowledge of tools, materials, processes, and techniques of routine maintenance.
  • Sufficient language, reading and writing skill to record readings, interpret maps and blueprints, and prepare activity reports.
  • Sufficient math skills to record numbers, compute sums, percentages, and ratios.
  • Sufficient human relations skill to exercise strong communication and interpersonal skills when dealing with customers and convey policies and procedures.
  • Customer service oriented skills.
  • Ability to carry out the essential responsibilities of the position.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints.
  • Ability to work independently and manage workload to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to recognize discrepancies and determine effective actions.
  • Ability to operate hand and power tools, riding lawn mower, fork lift, mini snowplow, side-by-side and repair tools.
  • Ability to work outdoors with varying work schedules and weather conditions.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions.
  • Ability to meet or exceed the Tribes attendance and punctuality standards.
  • Ability to evaluate objectively, fairly, and consistently.
  • Ability to use miscellaneous office equipment (e.g. calculators, typewriters, computers, FAX machines, copiers, etc.).
  • Ability to work as contributing member of a team, work productively and cooperatively with other teams and external customers, and convey a positive image of the Tribal government.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of up to 50 pounds on a continuous basis, pushing, pulling, guiding over 50 pounds on an infrequent basis.
  • Ability to push minimum 100 pounds (power cleaning appliances).
  • Ability to climb ladder and step ladder.
  • Ability to stoop, kneel, lay horizontal, and crouch to place and move work objects.
  • Ability to perform full arm extension and movement out and overhead.
  • Sufficient hand-eye coordination, hand and finger dexterity including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to operate equipment and read technical and safety information.
  • Ability to work flexible hours.
  • Ability to drive and work in adverse weather conditions.
  • Requires a valid driver’s license.
  • Require eligibility for tribal insurance coverage.
  • Requires a background clearance and required to maintain clearance throughout employment.
