Facility Maintenance Specialist - Salem
About The Position
The Oregon Military Department is recruiting for an Facilities Maintenance Specialist. This is a permanent full-time state position located in Salem, Oregon. This position is represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees’ (AFSCME) union. This recruitment announcement will be used to establish a list of qualified candidates to fill the current vacancy and may be used to fill future vacancies as they occur. Requirements
- Two years of general building maintenance experience.
- Two years of carpentry experience.
- Two years of electrical experience.
- Two years of mechanical experience.
- Two years of painting experience.
- Two years of plastering experience.
- A journeyman's license/card in any of the above trades will substitute for this experience.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and good driving record.
- Must comply with and have knowledge to know when, where, and how to properly wear and maintain personal protective equipment.
- Position requires knowledge and use of computers that manage the buildings operating systems.
- Employee is required to maintain a drug/alcohol free workplace in accordance with OMD Drug/Alcohol CPM’s, Policies, and the Statewide Drug Free Workplace Policy 50-000-01.

Responsibilities
- Perform skilled and semi-skilled maintenance and repair of facilities, roads and grounds, utilities, vehicles and equipment; and general armory cleaning to National Guard facilities, in support of the Oregon Army National Guard, and the RPOM Branch of the Oregon Military Department, and in compliance with State and Federal laws or regulations, policies, manuals, and procedures.
- This position will occasionally require regional travel, possibly overnight.
