About The Position

Our mission of the Louisiana Veterans Homes is to serve the Veteran population of Louisiana through the provision of maintenance services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. Join the State of Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Home, where you'll step into a role as the Facility Maintenance Manager A that performs supervision and maintenance-level work with excellence and genuine care for those who served. You'll supervise a team of 4 Maintenance Repairer 2’s and one Administrative Coordinator 3 who will assist in maintaining the facility, which services over 150 veterans.

Requirements

  • Four years of experience in the building construction trade, building construction, building maintenance, or road or bridge construction or maintenance.
  • OR Completion of a two-year training program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering plus two years of experience in the building construction trade, building construction, building maintenance, or road or bridge construction or maintenance.
  • OR Twelve semester hours in a construction field or engineering plus two years of experience in the building construction trade, building construction, building maintenance, or road or bridge construction or maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct the maintenance department at a 156-bed Long-Term health care facility.
  • Oversee daily maintenance tasks including maintaining a 480-volt electrical system, oxygen supply system, plumbing, HVAC, cooling tower, chemicals for an exclusive heat pump system, and a computerized mechanical system that monitors heat pumps, exhaust system, hot water boilers, and vacuum pumps.
  • Monitor the Fire Warning System and Alzheimer units magnetic locking system.
  • Be responsible for the maintenance of all facility vehicles, including monthly MV-3 reports and Fuelman Reports.
  • Manage repairs of the facility.
  • Manage an operating budget.
  • Discuss evaluations and performance with staff.
  • Recommend disciplinary actions when needed to your supervisor.
  • Handle conflict resolution.
  • Assure Quality Assurance through audits and staff in-services, aiding in improvement in the maintenance department and adherence to policy and procedure standards.
  • Report resident complaints and incidents, collaborating with staff to ensure all complaints and incidents are properly handled.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and effective work environment for residents and employees.
