About The Position

G-Net Construction is hiring a full-time Facility Maintenance Helper to support commercial facility maintenance, repair, and service work across NYC. This is a hands-on field position for someone who is reliable, willing to learn, and able to assist with day-to-day maintenance tasks in occupied commercial and institutional buildings. This role is best suited for someone who lives on Staten Island, has a valid driver’s license, communicates well, follows direction, works neatly, and wants to grow within a structured construction and facility maintenance company. Our maintenance work includes preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, emergency facility response support, plumbing and building systems assistance, drywall and painting support, electrical service call support, interior repairs, tenant space repairs, and general facility support.

Requirements

  • Must live on Staten Island.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be able to work on the books.
  • OSHA-40 required for NYC field work.
  • Must be reliable, punctual, and willing to learn.
  • Must communicate clearly and follow direction from supervisors.
  • Must work neatly and keep job sites organized.
  • Must be physically able to lift, carry, move materials, climb ladders, and perform field work.
  • Must have basic hand tools, including at minimum a tape measure, hammer, utility knife, tool belt, and basic hand tool set.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior construction, maintenance, laborer, helper, or handyman experience is a plus.
  • Basic carpentry, painting, drywall, plumbing, electrical, or repair experience is a plus.
  • Experience working in commercial, school, healthcare, nonprofit, senior care, or occupied buildings is a plus.
  • Ability to drive a company vehicle when needed is a plus.
  • Basic blueprint or work order reading is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist maintenance technicians, carpenters, plumbers, electricians, painters, and other trades as needed.
  • Help with preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, and general facility service calls.
  • Load, unload, organize, and deliver tools, materials, and equipment.
  • Assist with drywall, painting, flooring, doors, hardware, ceiling, signage, cabinetry, and general interior repairs.
  • Assist with basic plumbing, drain cleaning, water heater, and building system support under supervision.
  • Assist with exterior and site-related maintenance support as directed.
  • Help set up work areas, protect occupied spaces, and maintain clean job site conditions.
  • Perform daily cleanup and keep tools, materials, vehicles, and work areas organized.
  • Follow directions from supervisors, lead mechanics, and office staff.
  • Communicate clearly regarding job status, materials needed, and field conditions.
