About The Position

The Facility Laborer supports facility maintenance operations by performing routine tasks under the direction of skilled trades technicians. This role involves assisting with general maintenance of building systems including but not limited to HVAC, electrical, and plumbing. The position requires physical capability, attention to safety protocols, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 0–2 years of experience in facility maintenance, general labor, or a related field.
  • Ability to follow established safety guidelines and procedures.
  • Physical capability to regularly perform tasks involving hearing, talking, touching, climbing ladders, and working comfortably at heights.
  • Ability to frequently exert up to 75 pounds of force and perform repetitive movements.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain/maintain DOT physical certification.
  • Basic reading and intermediate math skills.
  • Use of personal cell phone required for business purposes throughout the day.
  • Ability to maintain normal to extremely demanding attention levels as required by tasks.

Nice To Haves

  • Forklift and scissor lift certification or experience.
  • General knowledge of facility building systems (HVAC, electrical, plumbing).
  • Skillsets in multiple trades (carpentry, electrical, plumbing, etc.).
  • Previous experience working in a facilities maintenance environment.
  • Experience interpreting technical diagrams, schematics, blueprints, and maintenance schedules.
  • Skilled trades certification, licensure, or completion of an apprenticeship program in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Work independently or as part of a team to repair facilities and equipment, ensuring proper functionality and operational efficiency.
  • Assist skilled trades technicians with general maintenance tasks requiring standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, climbing, and balancing.
  • Support maintenance of building systems including HVAC, electrical, and plumbing through hands-on work involving grasping, pushing, reaching, and repetitive hand/finger movements.
  • Perform tasks requiring clarity of vision at varying distances, three-dimensional vision, color identification, and ability to adjust focus for electrical wiring, equipment maintenance, and reading calibration instruments.
  • Operate forklifts and scissor lifts safely and efficiently, requiring ability to work at heights and maintain peripheral vision.
  • Lift and move materials frequently exerting up to 75 pounds of force.
  • Maintain DOT physical certification as required for equipment operation.
  • Apply practical problem-solving skills to address facility maintenance issues with limited standardization.
  • Interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagrammatic, or schedule form.
  • Utilize intermediate math skills including fractions, percentages, proportions, algebra, and geometry for measurements and calculations.
  • Utilize basic computer skills for work order tracking and documentation.
  • Use personal cell phone for business communication throughout the workday.
  • Read and comprehend safety rules, equipment instructions, and maintenance procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as requested by management.
  • Travel occasionally to other office locations as needed.
  • Participate in after-hours on-call rotation approximately once per month or as needed.
