About The Position

Aspirus Health is seeking a Facility Inpatient Coder to review health care record documentation and assign ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, and CPT codes in accordance with professional coding standards and billing regulations. The role also reviews and collects health information data for patient care, statistical, financial, and research purposes, while maintaining the confidentiality of health information. The position can be trained and performed fully remotely. This is a full-time position at 1.0 FTE, or 80 hours biweekly. Aspirus Health is a nonprofit, community-directed health system based in Wausau, Wisconsin, serving northeastern Minnesota, northern and central Wisconsin, and Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Aspirus Wausau Hospital is a 325-bed regional referral center and Level II trauma center.

Requirements

Bachelor’s or associate degree in Health Information Technology or Coding, or an equivalent program with an emphasis in coding.
Coding accreditation and/or certification from a recognized professional organization is required within 18 months of hire.
Demonstrate motivation, organization, and attention to detail.
Possess strong interpersonal skills, resourcefulness, and initiative.
Ability to work as part of a team with minimal supervision.

Previous applicable experience is beneficial.
