The Facility Engineering Technician I supports the day-to-day operations of data center facilities by assisting with maintenance, monitoring, and basic troubleshooting of critical infrastructure systems. This role focuses on learning industry best practices while ensuring uptime, safety, and efficiency across all facilities. The Technician I works under supervision and follows established procedures to support reliable 24x7 operations. Requirements

  • Associate degree, technical certification, or equivalent experience preferred
  • 0–2 years of experience in facilities, mechanical, electrical, or related field
  • Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems
  • Willingness to learn data center infrastructure and operations
  • Ability to follow procedures and work in a team environment
  • Basic troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, 24x7 environment

Responsibilities

  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining building systems including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and fire/life safety systems
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance (PM) tasks and inspections
  • Respond to basic service tickets and alarms under guidance from senior team members
  • Escort vendors and contractors and ensure compliance with site standards
  • Support installation of racks, cabling infrastructure, and equipment
  • Document maintenance activities, incidents, and updates in systems (e.g., ServiceNow)
  • Follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) and emergency operating procedures (EOPs)
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of data center spaces
  • Participate in on-call rotations or shift coverage as required
  • Adhere to all safety and compliance requirements
