About The Position

GTA Data Centers is seeking a Facility Engineer to serve as the engineering, standards, audit, commissioning, and design authority for our data center facilities. This role focuses on power, cooling, generators, BMS/EPMS, load-bank testing, capacity planning, and vendor evaluations. The ideal candidate combines practical critical-infrastructure judgment with strong documentation discipline. As a Facility Engineer at GTA Data Centers, you'll own engineering integrity, safety, and performance for our facilities. You'll lead commissioning and acceptance testing, audit work by facility teams and vendors, maintain Revit/as-built designs, and drive capacity and growth planning.   • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 5 or more years of facility engineering, data center operations, commissioning, MEP, critical power, HVAC, construction, or similar critical infrastructure experience preferred.
  • Candidates with strong practical experience are encouraged to apply even if their path is nontraditional.
  • Ability to learn and maintain as-built design discipline is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be willing to travel between various locations.
  • Must be able to pass required background checks and follow data center security, safety, and access-control policies.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, facilities management, or a related technical field preferred; equivalent critical-facility, military, trade, commissioning, MEP, or data center experience will be considered.
  • Working knowledge of power, UPS, generators, switchgear, transfer equipment, cooling systems, BMS/EPMS, monitoring, commissioning, load-bank testing, and maintenance evidence preferred.
  • Applied Autodesk Revit experience preferred.
  • PE, EIT, CEM, PMP, commissioning, data center, HVAC, electrical safety, OSHA, NFPA 70E, or vendor certifications are helpful but not required at hire unless required for a specific legal work scope.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the independent engineering, standards, and audit authority for critical power, cooling, environmental, fire/life safety interfaces, BMS/EPMS, generators, UPS, and related facility systems
  • Audit work performed by Facility HVAC, Electrical, Infrastructure, Mechanical, and vendor teams for quality, safety, evidence, standards compliance, and corrective-action closure.
  • Define and improve facility technical standards, preventive maintenance standards, work order task design, task frequencies, and closeout requirements.
  • Review MOPs, EOPs, SOPs, and vendor procedures for risk, sequence, safety, customer impact, and compliance with data center standards.
  • Lead or approve commissioning plans, functional testing, integrated systems testing, failover testing, stress testing, and acceptance criteria for new or changed infrastructure.
  • Lead generator and power-system load-bank testing plans, execution oversight, acceptance review, deficiency tracking, and evidence capture.
  • Perform or oversee stress testing to confirm equipment meets or exceeds specifications before operational acceptance.
  • Lead or approve technical RCA findings, corrective action plans, and technical closure evidence for facility events and recurring deficiencies.
  • Maintain forward-looking capacity views for power, cooling, space, redundancy, environmental constraints, and critical infrastructure risk.
  • Own facility design concepts for customer expansion, resiliency improvements, capacity improvements, and infrastructure lifecycle planning.
  • Create, update, and review Autodesk Revit/as-built designs for facility layouts, customer fit-out impacts, expansion concepts, maintenance access, and operational records.
  • Own in-building fiber routing design from building entrance or meet-me points to optical distribution frames and from optical distribution frames to customer handoff points.
  • Evaluate vendor products and technical solutions for fit with existing infrastructure, customer requirements, operational standards, supportability, lifecycle cost, and strategic expansion plans.
  • Review expansion designs, project scopes, equipment changes, containment approaches, and commissioning plans for operational readiness and long-term flexibility.
  • Support BMS/EPMS ownership, alarm response matrix design, and facility monitoring quality with IT, Documentation and Assets, Technical Operations, and vendors.
  • Perform weekly data hall inspections and provide facility technical health, risk, commissioning, capacity, audit, and maintenance-readiness findings to the Director of Operations and SVP.
  • Performs other related duties and special projects assigned to support evolving business priorities
