About The Position

Oaklawn is seeking a talented individual to join their team as a Facility Engineer I. This role is responsible for performing preventative maintenance and other assignments throughout the facilities and grounds, while maintaining a friendly and professional image. The ideal candidate will enthusiastically support and promote superior customer service, maintain strict confidentiality, and provide impeccable guest service. This position involves maintaining the building through preventative maintenance and related activities, opening, tracking, and closing work orders and PMs, conducting data entry on work orders, observing safety rules, and notifying the Director of Facilities about major repair needs for lighting, heating, cooling, plumbing, and equipment. The role also requires adherence to the established procedures and policies of Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1-3 years technical experience in specialty or general maintenance field required.
• Must be able to perform the physical job duties of all Facilities team members.
• Must have the ability to interact with guests, staff and colleagues and resolve problems and conflicts in a diplomatic and tactful manner.
• Employee must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and have acceptable driving history as determined by Oaklawn Jockey Club.
• All applicants must complete a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative maintenance and other related maintenance activities throughout the property, including hotel rooms.
• Opens, tracks, and closes out work orders and PMs.
• Conducts data entry on work orders.
• Observes safety rules and maintains a safe environment.
• Notifies Director of Facilities concerning needs of major repairs or additions to lighting, heating, cooling, plumbing and equipment.
• Follows established procedures and policies of the Oaklawn Racing Casino Resort.
• Enthusiastically supports, actively promotes, and demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with department and company standards and programs.
• Maintains strict confidentiality in all departmental and company matters.
• Provides impeccable guest service to all guests.
