About The Position

Work as a Generalist – Licensed Practical Nurse in the Adult Care Licensure Section involves regulatory activities to determine compliance with state requirements for assisted living facilities and overnight respite programs. Job responsibilities include: •Work both independently or as a member of a professional health care team conducting on-site inspections of licensed adult care homes and overnight respite programs to determine the facility’s compliance with licensure rules and statutes. •Analyzing survey findings and determining compliance with applicable rules and statutes then documenting findings in a legally defensible manner. •Providing technical assistance to facilities and potential providers. •Providing regulatory oversight and technical assistance to county Department of Social Services (DSS) staff. •Position duties involve significant oral and written communication with facilities, staff and public. Position will be home-based in the Central Region of the state and applicants should reside in Guilford, Forsyth, Davidson, Stokes or contiguous counties. This position works in the field conducting inspections. The position requires frequent travel, sometimes on short notice within these counties, including occasional overnight stays. Position may utilize a state vehicle if available, a rental vehicle or their personal vehicle for travel. Travel expenses, including food, lodging, and transportation, are compensated by the State of North Carolina at the NC Office of State Budget and Management’s established rates.

Requirements

  • Must possess and maintain an active, unencu mbered North Carolina LPN license.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a health, human service, or educational related field from an appropriately accredited institution and three years’ experience in surveying, clinical and/or administration of a program in a related health field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Master’s degree in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and one year experience in surveying, clinical and/or administration of a program in a related health field; or Bachelor’s degree, in social work from an appropriately accredited institution and three years’ experience in surveying, clinical and/or administration of a program in a related health field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in nutrition or food service management from an appropriately accredited institution and three years’ experience in surveying, clinical and/or administration of a program in a related health field, eligible for registration from the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of current nursing practice, assessment, and care planning with long term care experience.
  • Experience applying rules, statutes, and/or standards to ensure compliance in the area of work, including participating in or conducting state or federal surveys, compliance audits, or accreditation surveys.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to document clearly and concisely in a technical report.
