About The Position

As a Facility Attendant 1, you will perform a wide variety of minor maintenance tasks and other duties as assigned pertaining to the general upkeep and maintenance of the Distribution Center. You will support Maintenance Mechanics with light mechanical work, servicing and repair of hand tools and minor floor machines. You will also assist maintenance personnel in the installation and removal of various equipment throughout the distribution center. Key duties include changing batteries, performing maintenance on battery chargers, keeping battery equipment clean and painted, and maintaining battery changing records. You will also handle light carpentry work such as building racks, shelving, and repairing workbenches, as well as minor plumbing tasks like repairing faucets and landscape sprinklers. Additionally, you will clean stopped drains and sumps, assist with pest control and related record updates, paint necessary areas, touch up equipment, remove cardboard bales, and operate snow removal equipment. You will be responsible for filling out necessary paperwork and requisitions, keeping daily work order logs, cleaning the warehouse with sweeper and scrubber equipment, removing trash, and maintaining building grounds. Operating Target-owned vehicles for yard cleanup, incident response, vendor escort, and parts pickup is also part of the role. Ensuring safe operation of all power equipment, using safe lifting techniques, and promptly assisting in spill cleanup to prevent accidents are critical.

Requirements

  • Possesses and maintains a valid driver's license for state employed.
  • Able to work both independently and in a team environment.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Accurately uses basic math skills.
  • Able to be certified to operate all power equipment.
  • Able to use maintenance tools; saws, drills, etc.
  • Able to read labels, tickets, instructions, etc.
  • Able to lift and carry merchandise/equipment weighing up to 47 lbs. regularly and up to 60 lbs. on an infrequent basis.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision and self-motivate.

Responsibilities

  • Assist maintenance personnel in installation/removal of various items of equipment.
  • Change batteries, perform maintenance on battery chargers, keep battery equipment clean and painted, and maintain battery changing records.
  • Perform light carpentry work such as building racks, shelving, and repairing workbenches.
  • Complete minor plumbing tasks such as repairing faucets and landscape sprinklers.
  • Clean stopped drains and sumps as needed.
  • Assist in duties related to preventive maintenance programs, such as pest control, and update associated records.
  • Paint necessary areas and touch up all equipment as needed.
  • Remove cardboard bales from the baler.
  • Operate snow removal equipment to clean walks, roads, and parking lots.
  • Fill out necessary paperwork or requisitions for materials.
  • Keep daily work order logs for all work performed.
  • Clean the warehouse using sweeper and scrubber power equipment.
  • Remove trash from the building using large portable dumpsters.
  • Keep building grounds in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Operate Target-owned vehicles for yard cleanup, incident response, vendor escort, and parts/material pickup.
  • Operate all power equipment in a safe manner.
  • Use safe lifting techniques at all times.
  • Promptly assist in spill cleanup to avoid risk of accidents.
