About The Position

The City of Diamond Bar is looking for candidates that have a passion for people and service! Immediate Coverage Needs: - Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, sometimes as late as 2:30 a.m. - Hours may vary, shifts are not permanent or guaranteed. Through diverse and innovative programming, and broad partnerships, the Parks & Recreation Department plays an important role in creating a healthy community. The Facility Attendant, under general supervision, provides core support to Parks and Recreation facilities; which includes safely performing essential janitorial tasks, room set-ups and breakdowns of a variety of equipment, and fundamental maintenance tasks. This position must have the ability to communicate effectively, tactfully and appropriately orally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with staff and the general public. While working in a variety of settings at the Diamond Bar Center or Heritage and Pantera Parks, the Facility Attendant will also support other Parks and Recreation programs, including but not limited to Senior programs, City and private special events, recreation classes, etc. Other duties as assigned to maintain the operations of the facility and City programs.

Requirements

  • Graduation from High School or GED equivalent.
  • One (1) year of verifiable paid experience in working with the public in the areas of facility maintenance, janitorial services, event set up, recreation or a closely related field.
  • Possession of a valid Class C or Class 3 California driver’s license and an acceptable driving record throughout the course of employment.
  • Ability to travel to different sites and locations.
  • Must be able to work assigned schedules that include weekdays, weekends, evenings and holidays.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, tactfully and appropriately orally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with staff and the general public.
  • Must work well with the public.
  • Must work well independently and as a collaborative member of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Efficiently prepare and tear down equipment at City buildings and facilities such as the Diamond Bar Center (equipment includes but is not limited to banquet tables and chairs, meeting tables, folding chairs, audio visual equipment, gymnastics mats, etc.).
  • Monitor the operation and public activity during hours of operation.
  • Assist in the operation, set-up, and/or breakdown of special events.
  • Perform janitorial and maintenance duties.
  • Inspect facilities and adjacent areas for potential hazards and unsafe conditions.
  • Ensure facilities are secure upon closing.
  • Serve as a front line contact for enforcement of City policies and codes in public facilities.
  • Maintain security of facilities per City standards.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to maintain the operations of the facility and City programs.
