About The Position

The Facility Assistant is a part-time position that will provide assistance to programs and events associated with the Greenbelt Recreation Department. Under general supervision of the Recreation Coordinator, the Facility Assistant will assist with the preparation of different activities and will also be tasked with assignments around the facility grounds. Assignments can include setting up tables and chairs for rentals, preparing for City programs and events, performing light janitorial and custodial duties, and other duties as required to ensure that patrons have a positive experience.

Requirements

  • 17 years or older (preferably a high school senior)
  • Must have 20 completed service hours (preferably with City of Greenbelt).
  • Ability to interact courteously with patrons and colleagues.
  • Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds (specifically tables, chairs and AV equipment).
  • Punctuality and dependability are mandatory.
  • Following written and oral instructions, logging daily entries.
  • Organizing work efficiently and providing courteous service.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with children is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance and information to facility users; including City policies and procedures pertaining to facility usage.
  • Assist with facility use activities including appropriate safety and security.
  • Assist in the inventory of facility supplies and equipment.
  • Maintain professional, courteous behavior toward co-workers, members of the public, and all other contacts in the course of work.
  • Perform basic and minor custodial and janitorial duties before, during and after scheduled events and activities.
  • Document and report necessary repairs, incidents, safety and cleanliness issues to supervisor.
  • Assist with event set up and breakdown which may include moving and arranging tables and chairs or other equipment.
  • Assist with set-up and operating audio, video or other technology-focused equipment for programs and events.
  • Assist in organizing and implementing tasks for programs and events.
  • Assist in ensuring proper compliance of established facility rules and regulations by participants and users.
  • Engage with participants of programs and events while assisting program lead.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
