About The Position

The Facility Assistant II plays a key role in coordinating and supporting grain and special crops processing operations at the facility. This position is responsible for planning and coordinating the use of processing equipment, operating equipment, identifying blending opportunities, supporting quality control activities, and coordinating shipment schedules. By monitoring operational performance, maintaining inventory integrity, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards, the Facility Assistant II contributes to efficient operations and consistent delivery of product that meets end‑user requirements.

Requirements

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Minimum three (3) years of progressively responsible agri‑business (grain) experience.
  • Level 2 Grain Grading course (company‑sponsored) or equivalent.
  • Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
  • Strong knowledge of grain processing operations, blending techniques, and quality control practices.
  • Ability to analyze operational data and recommend process improvements.
  • Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with operations, grading, transportation, and management teams.
  • Demonstrated understanding of EH&S requirements and ISO standards.
  • Strong organizational, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
  • Physical ability to perform operational duties within a grain or special crops facility, including good eyesight and color perception.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and coordinate grain and special crops processing activities, including binning, cleaning, drying, blending, and storage to meet shipping requirements and quality specifications.
  • Operate grain and special crops processing equipment, including cleaner systems and dryers, ensuring contracted standards are met while optimizing returns for the business.
  • Monitor and analyze binning practices, investigate and assess bin mixes, and conduct periodic quality checks of cleaned product to ensure product integrity.
  • Analyze downtime and throughput volumes, and recommend improvements to enhance grain processing productivity and performance.
  • Coordinate railcar, truck, and transloading shipment schedules in collaboration with the manager and transportation teams, maintaining effective communication.
  • Support inventory management, including tracking stock levels, overseeing inventory checks, identifying damages or shortages, and assisting with reporting; escalate complex issues to the manager as required.
  • Conduct grading and quality assessments—including dockage, moisture, and protein analyses of inbound and outbound product—under the direction of the Grader or Assistant Manager.
  • Identify and determine blending opportunities to ensure products meet required grade and quality standards.
  • Perform routine equipment maintenance and minor repairs, and assist with servicing grain and special crops processing equipment.
  • Promote and maintain compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations, and ensure adherence to ISO standards and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as required to support safe, efficient, and compliant facility operations.
