Requirements

High School diploma or GED
Associates Degree in HVACR, Refrigeration/Electrical, RETAA or CIRO certificates, Trade School Certification, or equivalent is strongly preferred
Experience with multi-stage ammonia compression systems.
Ability to troubleshoot complex electrical control systems (such as GEA or Frick controls).
Knowledge of liquid recirculation systems.
Ability to read and interpret Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
Experience with screw compressors, evaporative condensers, and room cooling evaporators.
Understanding of IIAR ammonia refrigeration safety standards.
Experience with boiler operations and inspections.
Skills in facility plumbing and pipefitting.
Maintenance experience with air compressors, air dryers, rapid roll-up doors, and dock doors/levelers.
Knowledge of Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), and Hazard Communication (HazCom) requirements.
Ability to understand and explain the physics of the refrigeration cycle.
At least 5 years of experience operating and maintaining industrial ammonia refrigeration systems.
Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.

Responsibilities

Maintain and monitor ammonia (NH₃) refrigeration systems.
Operate and repair boilers, HVAC systems, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, air compressors, air dryers, and freezers.
Maintain water treatment, potable/non-potable water, sanitary, and stormwater systems.
Repair and maintain rapid roll-up doors, hot water systems, and building infrastructure, including the roof.
Work closely with the maintenance team and other departments.
Support the Maintenance Manager in ensuring compliance with IIAR, ASHRE, ASME, EPA, OSHA, and applicable state and local regulations.
Demonstrate strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills, especially in ammonia refrigeration systems and Process Safety Management (PSM) compliance.
Ensure that assigned machinery runs without issue.
Complete assigned PM's.
Monitor the performance of the ammonia refrigeration system.
Analyze system data and trending data to determine the need for increased maintenance frequencies.
Document Contractor activity as it pertains to the refrigeration system.
Support the maintaining of the PSM Program.
Participate as a member of the Emergency Response Team.
Provide training to the Maintenance Technicians on the operation of the Refrigeration System.
