About The Position

Cadence Education is seeking a skilled, self-motivated, and service-oriented Facilities Technician to support the operations, maintenance, safety, and appearance of five Specialty School locations throughout the Atlanta market. This role is responsible for performing preventative maintenance, responding to repair requests, ensuring regulatory compliance, overseeing vendor services, and maintaining safe and welcoming learning environments for students, families, and staff. The Facilities Technician will travel regularly between assigned schools and serve as the primary facilities resource for school leaders, providing end-to-end support for maintenance projects, asset management, safety inspections, and grounds upkeep. The ideal candidate has experience in multi-site facility maintenance, strong technical troubleshooting skills, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities.

Requirements

  • Ability to pass a DECAL background check and receive a comprehensive satisfactory letter.
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 3 years of facilities, building maintenance, property maintenance, or related experience.
  • Experience supporting HVAC, electrical, plumbing, playgrounds, roofing, and/or general building systems.
  • Knowledge of preventative maintenance practices in a multi-site environment.
  • Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair facility and equipment issues.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record and ability to operate a company vehicle in accordance with company policy.
  • Strong time management, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with school staff and vendors.
  • Proficiency using mobile devices, tablets, laptops, and facility management software systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, technical bulletins, construction drawings, plans, and specifications.
  • Ability to regularly stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crawl, climb ladders, and perform physical maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds independently and heavier items with assistance.
  • Ability to work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to safely operate maintenance tools, equipment, ladders, and company vehicles.
  • Ability to travel daily between multiple Atlanta-area school locations.

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school certification or vocational training in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, facilities maintenance, or a related field.
  • Experience supporting childcare, educational, healthcare, or multi-location commercial facilities.
  • OSHA, playground safety, or other relevant maintenance certifications.
  • Experience with CMMS and asset management systems.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and perform routine preventative maintenance at assigned schools.
  • Conduct routine inspections, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, lighting, mechanical and building systems to maintain operations.
  • Complete minor plumbing, carpentry, painting, drywall, flooring, and hardware repairs.
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and perform corrective maintenance whenever possible.
  • Replace filters, light fixtures, ceiling tiles, door hardware, locks, and other building components as needed.
  • Assist in evaluating facility conditions and identifying repair priorities and capital replacement opportunities.
  • Ensure facilities remain clean, functional, safe, and aesthetically maintained.
  • Conduct routine safety and security inspections of buildings, playgrounds, parking lots, outdoor spaces, and grounds.
  • Identify and correct hazards to maintain compliance with company standards and state licensing requirements.
  • Support emergency preparedness initiatives and ensure facilities meet all applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain inspection records and documentation related to repairs, maintenance activities, and compliance initiatives.
  • Respond promptly to urgent facility concerns and emergency maintenance situations.
  • Perform or oversee routine exterior maintenance activities, including playground safety inspections, fence and gate inspections, privacy screen repairs, mulch management and replenishment, landscaping coordination, and seasonal plant care.
  • Monitor playground surfaces, equipment, handrails, sidewalks, and outdoor learning spaces for safety and functionality.
  • Coordinate pressure washing, painting, pest-related issues, and other grounds improvement activities as needed.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between schools and approved maintenance, landscaping, and repair vendors.
  • Coordinate and monitor vendor work to ensure quality, safety, and timely completion.
  • Support facility improvement projects, renovations, and capital expenditures.
  • Obtain estimates, order materials, and recommend cost-effective repair solutions.
  • Assist with project planning and execution to minimize disruption to school operations.
  • Create, update, prioritize, and close work orders using Facilities Service Channel.
  • Log, track, and maintain facility assets within the asset management platform.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, maintenance schedules, and vendor activities.
  • Monitor inventory levels and order maintenance supplies, tools, and replacement parts as needed.
  • Provide regular status updates to school leadership and facilities management.
  • Build strong relationships with school leaders and staff across all assigned locations.
  • Educate center teams on facility care best practices and maintenance procedures.
  • Prioritize maintenance requests while balancing preventative maintenance schedules and compliance requirements.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service while maintaining professionalism and responsiveness.
