About The Position

The Facilities Technician (FT) is responsible for the maintenance and cleaning of all buildings, properties, and grounds belonging to the Hale Centre Theatre (HCT). This role involves ensuring the facility is clean, safe, and well-maintained, including overseeing contractors and implementing new cleaning processes. The FT will also manage building-related repairs, HVAC systems, security systems, and contribute to the creation and maintenance of a Safety Program. Additionally, the position handles shipping and receiving, assists with budgeting, prepares buildings for changeover cycles, and manages attic stock. The FT must possess a broad range of technical skills and excellent interpersonal abilities to represent HCT effectively.

Requirements

  • Experience in and a working knowledge of HVAC systems and Controls.
  • Experience in and a working knowledge of plumbing, mechanics, electrical, carpentry, pneumatics, roofing, painting, drywall installation and repair, masonry (including concrete pours), basic construction.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to lead by example.
  • Ability to demonstrate professional behavior at all times.

Responsibilities

  • Perform weekly walk-throughs of inside and outside the building and complex to ensure proper cleaning and identify areas needing repair.
  • Implement an action plan for safety concerns related to cleanliness and maintenance.
  • Oversee new cleaning processes and contractors.
  • Coordinate and supervise contractors for cleaning and maintenance tasks.
  • Perform all building-related repairs, both inside and outside HCT buildings, grounds, and properties.
  • Oversee contractors/vendors for maintenance/repairs and potentially manage contractors for building upgrades.
  • Perform maintenance and repair of HVAC and related systems.
  • Oversee contractors and subcontractors for HVAC maintenance and preventative maintenance.
  • Secure contracts/quotes for HVAC system maintenance.
  • Maintain security systems and protocols, ensuring overall security integrity.
  • Perform special projects related to security as requested by the Facility Manager.
  • Upgrade software, firmware, and hardware of all security systems.
  • Recruit and maintain subcontractors and contacts for security systems.
  • Ensure the building(s) is properly locked down and secure during all hours and periods when the facility is not in use.
  • Provide training related to security systems.
  • Coordinate special event security for in-house needs and visiting dignitaries.
  • Create and maintain a Safety Program and Protocols for the building work environment.
  • Coordinate with all departments to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Maintain records of maintenance, training, and incidents for hardware and personnel.
  • Ensure personnel follow in-house safety procedures (e.g., lock-out/tag-out, Hot Work Permits, Fire-Watch).
  • Periodically conduct fire, water, and other drills.
  • Receive, sort, and store incoming freight/packages/deliveries.
  • Assist in outgoing shipments.
  • Assist in creating an annual budget.
  • Review quarterly expense reports for anomalies, errors, or unexplained expenses and report findings.
  • Protect the integrity of the budgeting process and report areas of concern.
  • Prepare all spaces and/or equipment for the next changeover cycle.
  • Manage attic stock for items affecting the building, shows, and operations.
  • Identify "Long-Lead" items and coordinate purchasing with the Facility Manager.
