About The Position

The Facilities Technician is responsible for conducting and/or coordinating facilities maintenance repairs and preventative maintenance for Muskegon facilities systems. This includes monitoring systems like HVAC, fire suppression, security, air compressors, cooling towers, cranes, dock levelers, plumbing, electrical, lighting, parking lots, roofs, doors, locks, landscaping, fencing, cleaning services, snow plowing, waste hauling, compactors, balers, and ice/water machines. The role also involves performing scheduled preventative maintenance, assisting with capital projects, and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Knowledge and hands-on skills with facilities systems.
  • Appropriate mathematics, reading, and writing skills.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Completion of all other duties as assigned by the department manager.
  • Tools sufficient for facilities systems.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously monitor Muskegon facilities systems for proper operation and make repairs as necessary, coordinating with contractors if required.
  • Conduct Muskegon facilities preventative maintenance as scheduled, coordinating with contractors as needed.
  • Assist in coordinating and managing Muskegon facilities capital projects as needed.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
