About The Position

Leman Academy of Excellence is seeking a Facilities Technician for its East Campus. This full-time role is responsible for the daily operations and maintenance of the school's facilities, ensuring the appearance and optimal functioning of buildings and grounds. The technician will oversee mechanical, electrical, fire/life safety, and elevator systems to provide a safe and healthy environment for scholars and staff. This position serves as the main point of contact for all facility-related services, managing vendors, performing maintenance, and cleaning services as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum High School Diploma/GED.
  • DPS Fingerprint Clearance Card / Background and Criminal History Clearance.
  • First Aid/CPR Certifications.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Ability to lift 100 lbs.
  • Ability to troubleshoot basic maintenance issues including various equipment throughout the facility (electrical, mechanical, HVAC general troubleshooting capability and safety practices).
  • Moderate computer skills including ability to use Microsoft Office, general emailing, and internet research.
  • Mechanically proficient in a variety of repair areas including drywall repair, basic plumbing/electrical, painting, and varied floor stripping/finishing/waxing experience.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • An understanding of purchasing, supplies, grounds-keeping, and preventative maintenance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with scholars, parents, co-workers, and vendors.
  • Strong commitment to providing leadership in promoting health and safety, including a safe environment.
  • Ability to operate office equipment as required on assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the daily operations and needs of the school facilities.
  • Maintain the appearance of the buildings and grounds.
  • Ensure optimal functioning of building systems including mechanical, electrical, fire/life safety, and elevator systems.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for all facility-related services and issues.
  • Manage outside vendors and contractors.
  • Perform regular maintenance and cleaning services.
  • Ensure basic facility requirements like hygiene, water, and electricity are in good working order.
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment for scholars and staff, complying with all applicable policies, rules, and regulations.
  • Perform general maintenance and preventative care of campus buildings, outside areas, and communal spaces.
  • Inspect and maintain accurate records of the condition of equipment and building systems.
  • Liaise with and manage outside vendors for general supplies and facilities/grounds-keeping services.
  • Maintain and track facilities inspections (e.g., health department, DES, fire/safety, waste water).
  • Train staff on the use of facilities equipment as needed.
  • Ensure incoming staff are aware of inspections and facilities requirements.
  • Prepare communal areas and classrooms for special activities.
  • Inventory and stock custodial and basic maintenance supplies.
  • Order additional supplies through vendors in conjunction with the business office.
  • Identify and communicate long-term or sizeable facility issues to site principals and the business office.
  • Communicate with site Vice Principal and/or Principal on normal school operations.
  • Provide general on-site assistance for Leman staff and scholars.
  • Develop and maintain effective client, vendor, family, and community-based organization relationships.
