Position Summary As a Facilities Technician I, you will be part of a team responsible for the start-up and maintenance of equipment required to operate the Cranbury facility, laboratories, and manufacturing cleanroom. Additional responsibilities include equipment troubleshooting, equipment user training, and management of contractors related to equipment maintenance. The ideal candidate will also have a strong passion and curiosity for science and gene therapy with the desire to contribute individually and collectively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in facilities maintenance, building operations, manufacturing support, or a related field.
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and HVAC systems.
  • Ability to safely use hand tools, power tools, and maintenance equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of facility equipment and building systems.
  • Support the operation and maintenance of HVAC, plumbing, electrical, refrigeration, and mechanical systems.
  • Respond to maintenance requests and resolve facility-related issues in a timely manner.
  • Assist with preventative maintenance activities and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Maintain facility cleanliness, organization, and operational readiness in maintenance and utility areas.
  • Coordinate and support external contractors, vendors, and service providers performing maintenance, repair, and installation work.
  • Escort contractors as required and verify work is completed according to facility standards and safety requirements.
  • Assist with waste management activities, including routine, electronic, and regulated waste disposal processes.
  • Monitor and support critical facility utility systems, including water purification systems, gas distribution systems, emergency power systems, and remediation/neutralization systems.
  • Perform inspections and basic maintenance to ensure system reliability and compliance.
  • Identify and report system deficiencies and assist with corrective actions.
  • Participate in required training programs and maintain training compliance.
  • Support facility inspections, audits, and regulatory readiness activities.
  • Ensure emergency exits, mechanical spaces, storage areas, and utility rooms remain compliant with safety and fire code requirements.
  • Promote a safe working environment and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
