About The Position

Begin your journey as a Facilities Tech with the Health First Facilities Tech Training Program in partnership with Brevard Adult & Community Education. As a Facilities Tech, you will help maintain the buildings, systems and equipment that support patient care every day. Key responsibilities include: Perform maintenance, repairs and inspections. Support mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems. Provide professional service to associates, patients and visitors. Gain valuable, on-the-job experience while in school – Work per diem as a Facilities Tech while going through the 9 month program. Easy transition – As a Health First associate you will transition into a full time Facilities Tech position upon course graduation. The Facility Technician I provides maintenance duties in Facilities across the Health First Integrated Delivery Network (IDN) including Inspections, Repairs, Preventative Maintenance of buildings, grounds and applicable equipment. The Facility Technician I supports the adherence to all the safety, efficiency and reliability of facilities by leveraging knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems across all on and off site locations.

Requirements

  • Must have high school diploma or GED, valid driver's license and clean motor vehicle records.
  • Upon acceptance to Health First program, applicant must also apply and enroll through the Brevard Adult & Community Education program.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Enrolled in the Health First Facilities Training Program.
  • Drivers License and clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) maintained.
  • Ability to provide and maintain required hand tools (job-specific power tools provided).
  • Basic knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.
  • Proficiency with hand and power tools used in maintenance work.
  • Ability to perform basic carpentry, painting, and drywall repairs.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, adapt to changing duties, and respond effectively to emergencies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform maintenance, repairs and inspections.
  • Support mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.
  • Provide professional service to associates, patients and visitors.
  • Performs various basic maintenance activities such as, but not limited too; changing ceiling tiles, light bulbs, clean vents and sprinkler heads, clean electrical and mechanical rooms, plunge sinks-toilets-drains, and deliver oxygen bottles; other duties as assigned.
  • Delivers excellent service to Associates, patients, and visitors, ensuring professionalism and courtesy in each interaction.
  • Maintains documentation for all work conducted within the computerized maintenance management system (TMA/FMP) by the timeframe established by our facilities department service level agreement of completion for each task performed.
  • Assists responses to emergent requests, such as STAT calls to minimize possible downtime and ensure safety of all Associates, patients and visitors.
  • Maintains, stores and operates applicable tools and equipment, properly cleaning and lubricating all equipment to reduce maintenance service delays, while overseeing inventory of parts, supplies, and materials as needed.
  • Ensures adherence to Health First, Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) facilities standards, applying all safety practices and protocols in all work performed.
