About The Position

The Facilities Systems Specialist is responsible for overseeing field execution of facilities and utilities maintenance, repair, and installation activities while serving as a technical subject matter expert for site operations. Provides hands-on field support, technical guidance, troubleshooting, and inspection of electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, pneumatic, and building systems to ensure safe, reliable, and compliant operation of facilities infrastructure. Supports preventive and corrective maintenance programs, coordinates field activities with internal stakeholders and contractors, and helps drive equipment performance, operational continuity, and continuous improvement across utilities and facilities systems.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in Electricity with license with six (6) years of significant experience.
  • Experience in maintenance and operations of utilities and facilities equipment.
  • Experience in maintenance of buildings and grounds.
  • Strong technical knowledge of facilities and utilities systems, including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, refrigeration, pneumatic, fire protection, water distribution, and related building systems.
  • Demonstrated troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to diagnose equipment or system failures, identify root causes, and support effective corrective actions.
  • Proficiency in the safe use of tools, test equipment, and maintenance practices, with working knowledge of applicable company safety programs and procedures.
  • Working knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), building management systems (BMS), and standard computer applications such as Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents, equipment manuals, drawings, procedures, and specifications.
  • Knowledge of preventive and corrective maintenance practices, field inspections, commissioning support, and equipment reliability principles.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, prioritize multiple tasks, and respond effectively to operational issues in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to coordinate with cross-functional teams, contractors, and site stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulatory, quality, and safety requirements, including EHS, GMP, and site procedures, as relevant to facilities operations.

Responsibilities

  • Provide field oversight, technical support, and inspection of facilities and utilities maintenance, repair, and installation activities.
  • Support execution of preventive and corrective maintenance work orders for utilities, facilities, and building systems in accordance with approved procedures and schedules.
  • Perform field inspections of electrical, mechanical, refrigeration, pneumatic, fire protection, water distribution, and HVAC systems to verify safe, reliable, and compliant operation.
  • Troubleshoot equipment and system issues, identify root causes, and recommend or implement effective corrective actions to minimize downtime and restore service.
  • Provide technical expertise during installation, startup, commissioning, and qualification support for new or modified utilities and facilities equipment.
  • Support planning and preparation of work orders by identifying labor, materials, tools, spare parts, and contractor requirements needed for execution.
  • Monitor critical utilities and facilities equipment performance and perform periodic inspections of systems such as air handling units, cooling towers, emergency generators, fire pump systems, compressed air systems, chilled water systems, and vacuum systems.
  • Support operation of utilities and facilities equipment within established parameters to maintain required environmental and operational conditions in critical and non-critical areas.
  • Support troubleshooting and maintenance of process control instrumentation and building management system components, including controllers, control valves, sensors, and related devices.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in system reliability, energy efficiency, maintenance effectiveness, cost reduction, and operational performance.
  • Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to technicians and contractors as needed while remaining an individual contributor role without direct people management responsibility.
  • Participate in emergency response, business continuity, and severe weather preparedness activities as required to support site operations.
