About The Position

The Facilities Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operation, maintenance, cleanliness, and safety of the facility to support efficient ice cream manufacturing operations. This role supervises facility personnel and contractors, ensures compliance with food safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements, and manages the plant's waste operations. The Facilities Supervisor plays a critical role in maintaining a safe, clean, and compliant production environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 3-5 years of facilities, maintenance, or operations supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of building systems, facility maintenance practices, and waste management operations.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, GMPs, HACCP, and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and CMMS systems preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Experience in food manufacturing, dairy processing, or consumer packaged goods preferred.
  • Experience working in refrigerated or cold-storage manufacturing environments.
  • Experience managing waste reduction, recycling, and sustainability initiatives.
  • OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training.
  • Knowledge of wastewater systems and environmental compliance programs.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily facility operations, including building systems, utilities, grounds, and common areas (internal and external).
  • Coordinate and oversee maintenance activities to ensure optimal operation of facility equipment and infrastructure.
  • Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance activities with internal maintenance teams and external contractors.
  • Conduct routine facility inspections and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure timely completion of work orders and facility-related projects.
  • Maintain inventory of facility supplies, tools, and equipment.
  • Coordinate equipment transfers across the Froneri US west coast sites (Bakersfield – Tulare) as needed.
  • Oversee daily waste management activities, ensuring proper handling, storage, segregation, and disposal of production and non-production waste.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, company policies, and food safety standards regarding waste management.
  • Coordinate waste pickups with approved vendors and service providers.
  • Monitor waste compactors, balers, containers, recycling equipment, and associated systems to ensure proper functionality.
  • Ensure proper disposal of food waste, packaging materials, cardboard, plastics, pallets, and other plant-generated waste streams.
  • Maintain waste management records, manifests, and documentation as required.
  • Conduct routine inspections of waste room areas to ensure cleanliness, pest prevention, and compliance with GMP standards.
  • Identify opportunities to reduce waste generation and improve recycling and sustainability initiatives.
  • Train employees on waste segregation and disposal procedures.
  • Promote and enforce compliance with OSHA regulations, GMPs (Good Manufacturing Practices), HACCP, environmental regulations, and company safety policies.
  • Conduct regular facility safety inspections and corrective actions.
  • Participate in safety audits, food safety audits, and regulatory inspections.
  • Ensure facility areas remain clean, organized, and inspection-ready.
  • Investigate facility-related incidents and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain emergency response readiness for facility-related situations.
  • Supervise, coach, and develop facilities and waste operations personnel.
  • Schedule work assignments and ensure adequate staffing coverage.
  • Conduct performance evaluations and provide ongoing feedback.
  • Foster a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
  • Support employee training and development initiatives.
  • Assist with facility budget planning and expense control.
  • Manage relationships with vendors, contractors, waste disposal providers, and service companies.
  • Review contractor performance and ensure compliance with plant requirements.
  • Obtain and evaluate quotes for facility services and improvement projects.

  • At Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
  • The pay range for prospective employees in this role is $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year.
