The EH&S team partners with all departments within Steelscape to provide secure access and a basic level of safety requirements. The Security Guard is expected to monitor and actively respond to safety, security and environmental alarms, initiate Emergency Response Activities, control access in and out of the plant, provide Level 1 Inductions for visitors, and assist coordinating coil shipping activities. The Security Guard achieves most of the results through interactions with visitors, EHS, Maintenance and Material Control team members. The incumbent will have accountability for clear communication with visitors and team members and promoting Steelscape’s Safety Culture and expectations to all visitors going through the gatehouse.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED is required
  • 1 year of work experience

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree
  • 5 years of work experience

Responsibilities

  • Monitor Safety and Security Alarms
  • Conducting Safety Indoctrinations for visitors
  • Weight on ticket versus Bill of Laden (BOL) (Question >1% difference)
  • Update and monitor vendor/visitor logbook to assure all have received the appropriate training
  • Ensure Security Compliance and Safety Compliance
  • Promote a culture of safety and environmental awareness
  • Conduct monthly emergency equipment inspections
  • Maintain appearance of external perimeter and gatehouse interior
  • Provide feedback to vendors and associates on shipping, receiving or safety related issues by communicating activities and following up on requests and concerns
