About The Position

The Project Manager at Arizona Center for Cancer Care (AZCCC) is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing construction, renovation, and capital improvement projects across AZCCC’s multi-site radiation oncology clinics. This role oversees linear accelerator (LINAC) and imaging equipment installations, bunker and shielding work, major mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) upgrades, and clinic refresh projects, while also supporting ongoing facility repairs and preventive maintenance initiatives. The Project Manager ensures projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget while maintaining compliance with radiation safety standards, healthcare regulations, and AZCCC operational requirements, with minimal disruption to patient care in active clinical environments.

Requirements

  • General education diploma or higher required; additional technical training, certifications, or coursework in construction management, engineering, or related fields preferred.
  • Minimum of five (5) or more years of experience managing healthcare construction or major MEP projects; experience in radiation therapy or imaging environments strongly preferred.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of MEP systems, electrical distribution and grounding, HVAC systems and controls, structural infill, and interior finishes.
  • Ability to demonstrate experience working in occupied healthcare facilities with a strong understanding of infection control, life safety requirements, and downtime mitigation.
  • Ability to demonstrate proficiency with construction management and documentation tools, as well as scheduling software.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong vendor, subcontractor, and stakeholder management skills.
  • OSHA 30 certification required or ability to obtain within ninety (90) days.
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for travel between locations.
  • Must be able to lift 25 lbs.

Responsibilities

  • Leads end-to-end delivery of construction and renovation projects from scope development through closeout and warranty.
  • Plans, coordinates, and oversees LINAC, CT simulator, and imaging equipment installations, including vault preparation, shielding, rigging, craning, floor leveling, vibration isolation, and acceptance testing readiness.
  • Manages subcontractors and vendors across all trades, including demolition, concrete, structural, electrical, mechanical, controls/BMS, fire and life safety, IT/low-voltage, doors and hardware, millwork, flooring, painting, and finishes.
  • Ensures compliance with applicable building, electrical, mechanical, and fire and life safety codes, ADA requirements, ICRA standards, and local authority approvals.
  • Conducts and documents Owner–Architect–Contractor (OAC) meetings, maintaining meeting notes, action items, and follow-up logs.
  • Implements quality control, commissioning, and punch-list processes to ensure complete and timely project turnover.
  • Enforces site safety protocols, including lockout/tagout, hot work permits, confined space requirements, rigging plans, and incident reporting.
  • Coordinates radiation safety compliance in collaboration with Radiation Safety Officers and Medical Physics, including shielding integrity checks, door interlocks, warning lights, access controls, and area radiation monitoring systems.
  • Ensures protection of patient privacy and PHI during construction activities in occupied clinical environments.
  • Supports ongoing facility and office repairs, including doors and hardware, lighting, flooring, millwork, ceiling systems, minor plumbing, HVAC issues, and workstation or office furniture repairs.
  • Develops and manages preventive maintenance and small works programs, maintaining backlogs and providing routine status updates.
  • Collaborates with clinical leadership, medical physicists, dosimetry, IT, biomed or clinical engineering, facilities, infection control, architects, OEM vendors, and finance teams.
  • Prepares and manages project budgets, schedules, scopes of work, bid packages, vendor selection processes, contracts, and change orders.
  • Tracks budget performance, contingency usage, and value engineering opportunities while maintaining clinical, safety, and quality standards.
  • Oversees project closeout activities, including as-built documentation, O&M manuals, warranties, training materials, and AHJ approvals.
  • Supports special projects and performs other related duties as assigned to support AZCCC facilities and capital initiatives.
