About The Position

Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is a dynamic, 100% employee-owned consulting firm providing multidisciplinary engineering, architecture, information technology, and related services. The Facilities Project Engineer is a project team member responsible for assisting with construction project oversight using knowledge of general engineering and construction principles and practices. This role involves interpreting, organizing, coordinating, communicating, and executing assignments with limited supervision, ensuring work is performed according to contract documents, and providing support to other team members. Immigration sponsorship or support (e.g. H1B, F-1 CPT/OPT/STEM OPT) is not available for this position, except for qualified candidates eligible for the TN visa classification.

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management, architectural or a related field from an accredited engineering, construction management or architectural program
  • 0 to 5 years’ experience in a construction related discipline
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledgeable with CPM scheduling
  • Experienced with Primavera P6 and/or Microsoft Project is preferred
  • Experience working with governmental agencies at the city, county and state levels
  • Knowledgeable in construction testing and inspection requirements

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning, scheduling and coordinating work throughout the various phases of the project
  • May be responsible for a portion of a large project or the entirety of a small to medium size project
  • Read and interpret construction documents such as drawings, specifications, geotechnical reports, testing and inspection reports, maps, aerial photography, topographical surveys and etc.
  • Monitor project progress to ensure work is being provided in accordance with contract plans and specifications
  • Prepare reports and logs such as inspector daily reports, cost to date, estimated cost to complete, submittals, RFI’s, etc.
  • Assist with performing quantity surveys and take-offs from contract documents and actual work-in-place
  • Assist with preparing construction cost budgets and estimates
  • Assist in the preparation of engineering documents for advertisement and bidding activities
  • Prepare and compile contract plans, specifications and estimates
  • Manage project sub-consultants and in-house support disciplines
  • Develop extra work order requests and open-end contract task proposals
  • Prepare proposals as required
  • Attend various meetings, record and distribute meeting minutes
  • Communicate and coordinate with team members to ensure project completion by the defined milestones and established quality guidelines
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
