Facilities Production Engineer, Controls

FluidstackSan Francsisco, CA
$150,000 - $204,000

About The Position

Fluidstack is seeking a Facilities Production Engineer, Controls to build and run the software layer over facility controls, including BMS and EPMS integrations, alarm pipelines, and automated response. This role involves writing integrations against controls protocols to centralize plant data, building alarm rationalization and routing to reduce noise for operators, and automating controlled responses to known plant conditions with safety and rollback mechanisms. The team operates at a national scale, managing power draw comparable to some countries, and builds infrastructure while it's being operated, setting new standards for speed and scale in operations.

Requirements

  • Written software against building or industrial controls: BACnet, Modbus, OPC-UA.
  • Fixed an alarm flood problem with engineering, not with acknowledgment fatigue.
  • Respect the blast radius of touching live plant and design accordingly.
  • Fluent in Python or Go plus the messiness of OT data.

Nice To Haves

  • Data center BMS and EPMS.
  • Ignition or Niagara.
  • Time-series databases.
  • Safety instrumented systems awareness.

Responsibilities

  • Build and run the software layer over facility controls: BMS and EPMS integrations, alarm pipelines, and automated response.
  • Write integrations against controls protocols so plant data lands in one queryable place.
  • Build alarm rationalization and routing so operators see signal, not noise.
  • Automate controlled responses to known plant conditions, safely, with rollback.
