About The Position

Northrop Grumman Space sector is currently seeking Principal/Facilities Electrical Engineers level 2 or 3 in our Promontory, Utah. This role involves designing power, controls, and process instrumentation, providing cost estimates, troubleshooting industrial electrical equipment, developing maintenance guidelines, and integrating electrical equipment for various systems including robotics and PLCs. The engineer will also be responsible for designing electrical schematics and panel layouts, specifying and programming variable frequency drives, and working with maintenance craftsmen. Project management and cost estimating are also key aspects of this role, with a requirement to provide detailed project designs in AutoCAD format.

Requirements

  • BS in Engineering with an emphasis in electrical/automation.
  • 2 years minimum or 0 with a Master's degree in industrial facility electrical design experience (for Level 2).
  • 5 years minimum or 3 with a Master's degree in industrial facility electrical design experience (for Level 3).
  • Industrial power and control design experience.
  • PLC systems and design experience.
  • AutoCAD drafting ability.
  • Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security Clearance.
  • Ability to work in the field, climb ladders, work outside, and work in congested areas.

Nice To Haves

  • Allen-Bradley PLC and Rockwell Software experience preferred.
  • Expertise to develop electrical schematics that are logical, well-organized, and require little to no redlines.
  • Expertise in designing panel layouts that minimize space and comply with the manufacturer’s specifications.
  • CNC machine knowledge and specifying.

Responsibilities

  • Designs power, controls, and process instrumentation per the NEC, including hazardous classified locations.
  • Provide detailed cost estimates for project design and implementation.
  • Troubleshoot industrial electrical equipment.
  • Develop electrical maintenance guidelines for industrial equipment.
  • Integrate and specify electrical equipment for robotics, PLC’s, servo drives, instrumentation and HVAC equipment.
  • Design, specify, and program variable frequency drives (VFD) for all types of motor control applications.
  • Work with maintenance craftsmen to troubleshoot.
  • Project management and cost estimating.
  • Provide Detailed Project Designs in AutoCAD drawing format.
