About The Position

This role requires regular onsite presence to fulfill essential job responsibilities. The Facilities Power Distribution Electrical Engineer will act as Intel's System Owner of the site's electrical operations and associated distribution system. They will ensure planned and corrective maintenance are completed to keep the electrical system operating to meet key indicators and customer requirements, leveraging the Maximo database to coordinate and document work and related repairs. The engineer will lead the response to site electrical power outage disturbances and recovery, model the electrical power distribution system, track changes, troubleshoot electrical system problems, conduct breaker coordination and arc flash studies, track electrical load and capacity, and utilize EasyPower system software. Additionally, they will track, trend, and analyze electrical system usage using PME and ION power monitoring software, deliver operational efficiency, maintenance, testing, and commissioning solutions, identify, qualify, and implement system upgrades, and provide technical leadership to 3rd party support. The role involves developing, reviewing, and approving electrical specifications and maintenance procedures for power supply units and battery backup systems, ensuring compliance with quality and reliability KPIs, monitoring trends in equipment utilization, system capacity management, forecasting, and performance, and establishing virtual sensors to flag adverse trends. The engineer will report on equipment and system health metrics, build the manage, repair, and maintenance work order schedule, review equipment test reports, conduct life extension evaluations, develop long-term end-of-life replacement project work scopes and schedules, and create change point management. They will monitor project work impacting equipment or systems, manage critical spare parts inventory, partner with electrical utility providers, and partner with Projects teams to enable site growth. This includes conducting analysis, audits of electrical systems, and leading complex electrical engineering projects and initiatives, collaborating cross-functionally with design teams, construction, field operations, vendors, and R&D. The role also involves reviewing and approving electrical designs, collaborating with Project Managers, Project Engineers, architects, engineers, and contractors, applying NEC codes, and performing commissioning and project close-out to validate documentation, training, and systems manuals, ensuring electrical as-built drawings are incorporated into master CAD drawings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar technical degree.
  • 3+ years industry experience in medium voltage electrical power systems (35kV and/or 12.47kV) maintenance, design, and/or operation.
  • Experience with electrical modeling, reviewing equipment drawings and/or submittals, troubleshooting electrical equipment issues, implementing protective device coordination studies, and/or load flow analysis.
  • Knowledge of low and medium voltage electrical distribution systems including transformers, low voltage substations, generators, and UPS systems.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, review, and approve electrical specifications and maintenance procedures related to power supply units and their associated battery backup systems.
  • Ensure compliance with quality and reliability KPIs associated with assigned systems and equipment.
  • Monitor trends in equipment utilization, system capacity management, forecasting, and performance.
  • Establish virtual sensors to flag adverse trends and create work plans to analyze or correct adverse trends.
  • Report on equipment and system health metrics and build the manage, repair, and maintenance work order schedule.
  • Review equipment test reports and condition based or breakdown maintenance.
  • Conduct life extension evaluation to determine remaining life of assets.
  • Develop long-term end-of-life replacement project work scope and schedules.
  • Create change point management.
  • Monitor project work impacting equipment or system.
  • Manage critical spare parts inventory associated with assigned systems and equipment.
  • Partner with electrical utility providers in driving quality of supply to factories.
  • Partner with Projects teams to enable site growth.
  • Conduct analysis and audits of electrical systems.
  • Lead complex electrical engineering projects and initiatives.
  • Work cross functionally with design teams, construction, field operations, vendors, and research and development teams.
  • Review and approve all electrical designs supporting the facility.
  • Collaborate effectively with Project Managers and Project Engineers, architects, engineers and contractors on new construction/renovation projects.
  • Apply NEC codes, including life safety and building code.
  • Read and interpret design drawings and specifications.
  • Perform commissioning and project closed out to validate required documentation, training and systems manuals.
  • Help maintain the facilities document control system by ensuring electrical as-built drawings are incorporated into the master CAD drawings.
