DC Central Kitchen (DCCK) is an iconic nonprofit and social enterprise that combats hunger and poverty through job training and job creation. Our approach provides hands-on culinary job training while creating living-wage jobs and bringing nutritious, dignified food where it is most needed in our city. We serve scratch-cooked farm-to-school meals in DC schools; deliver fresh, affordable produce to corner stores in neighborhoods without supermarkets; provide delicious catering; and operate fast-casual cafés. Above all else, we are committed to creating a more just, equitable, and inclusive community, both outside our doors and right here on our team. We strive to offer a safe environment to learn, discover and develop individual strengths, and pursue meaningful career pathways. As an Equal Opportunity Employer, we recognize and work to address the lasting effects of historic injustices and systemic racism, and we strongly encourage people of color, women, LGBTQ people, returning citizens, and people who have experienced poverty or homelessness to apply to join our team. The Facilities Management department supports DC Central Kitchen in its mission to use food as a tool to strengthen bodies, empower minds, and build communities by ensuring the functionality, safety, comfort, and efficiency of its new state-of-the-art home, the Michael R. Klein Center for Jobs and Justice, which occupies 36,000 square feet. This team is responsible for the maintenance and management of the physical environment, including production and training kitchens, offices, meeting, and event spaces; and the effective functioning of the infrastructure that supports the building, including Information Technology (IT) systems, Audio/Visual (A/V) systems, and Heating, Ventilation, and Air-Conditioning (HVAC) systems. The efforts of this department enable a productive, supportive, and connected workplace. Reporting to the Director, Facilities Management and working very closely with the Facilities Coordinator, the Facilities Porter will ensure that the Klein Center remain organized and sanitized. The Facilities staff supports overall operations by ensuring that all relevant areas are clean, organized, and stored. In addition to consistent maintenance and sanitation of the Klein Center, this role is also responsible for maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies and ensuring that supplies are ordered in time by communicating these needs to the Facilities Coordinator or Facilities Management Director. The Facilities Porter ensures the completion of daily tasks that are listed on opening and closing checklists, ensuring that daily upkeep and sanitation and preventative maintenance are monitored and maintained.
