About The Position

Boeing’s Engineering Puget Sound North organization is actively seeking a Facilities Civil Engineer, at either Experienced or Senior Level, to join our Facilities Engineering and Technology team in the Puget Sound area. This position is expected to be 100% onsite with work performed at our Renton, WA and Seattle, WA sites. As a Facilities Civil Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting facilities critical to manufacturing and airplane production operations. This role involves close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including engineering disciplines, maintenance and operations, to evaluate environmental impacts, underground utility systems, roadways and airplane flight lines. The position contributes to long-term maintenance planning efforts that ensure optimal facility performance and support ongoing airplane programs. Responsibilities include the design, development, procurement, and modification of civil engineering and environmental systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Structural, Civil or Aerospace Engineering or Physics from an ABET accredited program
  • 3+ years of experience in operations, engineering, and maintenance practices across various facilities and infrastructure systems, including but not limited to architectural, civil, electrical, and mechanical disciplines
  • 3+ years of experience reading and understanding engineering drawings, schematics, and construction specifications
  • 3+ years of experience using AutoCAD or similar software
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license
  • 5+ years of related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience applying engineering principles and techniques when providing technical solutions to difficult problems while complying with local and federal regulations
  • Experience leading and collaborating within a multi-disciplinary engineering environment
  • Experience interacting and collaborating with inter-organizational personnel, including project managers, construction managers, maintenance staff and contractors

Responsibilities

  • Develop moderately complex designs, final designs, cost estimates and provide maintenance support for the civil/structural phases of buildings, equipment installations, utility systems and grounds
  • Assist others to integrate the activities of multiple engineering disciplines, outside consultants and government agencies
  • Align civil/structural designs with customer requirements, building codes and applicable regulations by applying knowledge of construction principles, practices and materials
  • Ensure accuracy of drawing archives by reviewing contractor redlines and identifying errors/changes in order to comply with regulatory requirements, facility standards and record retention requirements
  • Support construction processes by providing input on vendor selection; review contractor proposals; interface with government/regulatory agencies; monitor project progress and vendor/consultant performance
  • Prepare and present project information to ensure compliance with applicable construction documents and jurisdictional requirements to meet project objectives
  • Produce and/or procure detailed design documents
  • Use appropriate resources to produce project documents in accordance with project parameters
  • Coordinate and translate customer requirements into design options with documents and estimates
  • Identify appropriate materials, equipment and services by applying engineering principles and methodology
  • Assist with updating design standards and site-specific operating procedures in order to establish common practices
  • With limited supervision, participates in infrastructure planning decision-making process
  • Plan, manage, and execute projects
  • Support analysis of current conditions and future requirements; gather data and work with customers to identify and assess alternatives and impacts
  • Collect customer requirements for incorporation into conceptual design
  • Participate in code research and the development of initial project schedule to establish project scope
  • Create, maintain and communicate project management information
  • Assist in the documentation and creation of contract scope
  • Interpret and analyze applicable regulations, standards, codes and ordinances with respect to project requirements
  • Offer project alternatives to ensure compliance
  • Provide support, as required, to secure permits
