About The Position

The Facilities Planning Specialist II will join the Planning & Interiors Design team to support BAE Systems Space and Mission Systems (SMS) sector's facilities planning, space management, workspace configurations, and people and equipment moves. This role involves collaborating with employees at all levels, validating and developing detailed design layouts, project scopes, and schedules. The specialist will manage vendors for office space design, furniture installation, and moves, and work with Facilities partners on project costs. The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a related field plus 2 or more years related experience. Higher-level degrees may substitute for experience, and related technical experience may substitute for education.
Experience in Facilities Management, Planning, Facilities Project Management, or furniture/interior project management or design.
Familiarity with IFMA and ANSI/BOMA standards.
Demonstrated proficiency with CAFM/IWMS systems (ARCHIBUS experience preferred).
Proficiency with Autodesk AutoCAD 2020+.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Visio and Excel, SharePoint and Teams.
Specification experience with commercial furniture manufacturers, including modular furniture systems (i.e., Steelcase, Herman Miller, Haworth).
Ability to work under limited supervision.
Ability and willingness to travel between campuses as needed.

Nice To Haves

Degrees in Interior Design, Interior Architecture, Facilities Management, with an emphasis in Facilities Design or Project Management, highly preferred.
Experience supporting Aerospace and/or Corporate Facilities, and familiarity with classified and secured work environments, highly preferred.
Facilities Management, Project Management and/or Interior Design certifications or accreditations, is desired.

Responsibilities

Provide planning and interior design services to support BAE Systems SMS campuses, working with internal business units to meet goals, functional needs, space requirements, and budget.
Create innovative design solutions that maximize space, introduce amenities, and foster flexible working environments.
Design dynamic and sustainable office spaces using existing or new modular systems and furniture, adhering to company furniture standards for cost-effectiveness.
Develop detailed space plans and layouts, including employee and equipment move plans, and conduct pre-development field verifications.
Oversee design needs for day-to-day Move/Add/Change (MAC) requests, including providing AutoCAD layouts for furniture and creating final installation documents.
Partner with Engineering and Industrial Operations teams to design seating within lab and manufacturing environments.
Provide freestanding and modular furniture design and FF&E for retrofit or new construction projects, managing programming, layout, specification, budget, procurement, and installation coordination.
Oversee interior signage installation and branding coordination.
Review, validate, approve, and process furniture, design, and vendor invoices.
Maintain current knowledge of Facilities Management trends, office space design, and furniture/ergonomic best practices.
Prepare CAD drawings, 3-D renderings, and design models for projects.
Provide updated furniture CAD drawings to the IWMS database team.
Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department and with other units.
Perform other duties as necessary.
