About The Position

Sitter & Barfoot Veterans Care Center is seeking a Facilities Painter to join the Maintenance Team. The role of the facilities painter will be to perform surface preparation such as removing wallpaper and skimming walls, painting, and minor drywall repairs across resident rooms, hallways, common lounges, and administrative offices. Because the workplace is the residents' home, the role requires working with minimal disruption, using low-odor or zero-VOC products, and strictly following healthcare safety and infection-control guidelines. This role will perform other duties as assigned within the Maintenance Department's mission and to meet the overall needs of the facility to include light plumbing, electrical, etc. This position is considered essential personnel and would be required to work in the event of an emergency, pandemic or facility need. This position participates in the rotating On Call schedule in the Maintenance Department.

Requirements

  • Experience working as a residential, commercial, or industrial painter.
  • Knowledge of painting materials, coatings, finishes, and the correct tools required to apply them.
  • Strong eye for detail, a positive attitude, and solid communication skills when interacting with residents and other staff members.
  • Basic math skills to calculate area measurements and estimate material needs.
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to work independently, to plan assigned work, select and gather necessary materials, tools and equipment for maximum efficiency and compliance with codes and regulations.
  • Experience in light maintenance repairs (light bulb, filter replacement etc.).
