About The Position

Install, maintain, and repair mechanical systems and associated equipment as directed by leadership. This role involves performing minor mechanical tasks in maintaining, repairing, and servicing a variety of mechanical equipment. Routine maintenance, service, and repair work are performed with guidance and direction from senior mechanics or other facilities leaders. The position requires a basic understanding of mechanical systems/equipment functionality to troubleshoot minor equipment/system problems and provides mechanical troubleshooting support for other trade fields. The role also involves utilizing various tools and equipment, interpreting plans and drawings, and performing preventive and predictive maintenance. Communication with customers and leadership, managing mechanical contractors, and maintaining regulatory compliance are also key aspects of the position. Documentation of work performed and training received, maintaining logs, and managing expense budgets are also required.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience preferred
  • Health care experience preferred
  • Concentration in health care maintenance preferred
  • Basic understanding of mechanical systems/equipment functionality.
  • Basic knowledge and ability to read, interpret and utilize plans, schematic drawings, line diagrams, OEM manuals, specifications and work orders.
  • Some basic knowledge of codes and other regulations related to the mechanical trade fields.
  • Ability to communicate assigned project task needs, progress and concerns with the customer and department leadership.
  • Ability to maintain regulatory compliance with ICRA and PICRA safety plans, lockout tag-out, confined space, MSDS and all other regulatory programs.
  • Ability to report all unsafe conditions to immediate supervisor.
  • Ability to document all work performed and all training received (or given).
  • Ability to communicate with all departmental / interdepartmental staff.
  • Ability to attend meetings and in-services as scheduled.
  • Ability to keep all logs current.
  • Ability to maintain expense budgets within established guidelines.
  • Ability to maintain requisitions supplies and materials by following purchasing and department specific procedures.
  • Ability to keep records of work and make reports.
  • Ability to perform prevention maintenance work as required.

Responsibilities

  • Install, maintain, and repair mechanical systems and associated equipment.
  • Perform minor mechanical tasks such as wall, floor, ceiling repairs/construction, door repairs, mounting of equipment to building surfaces.
  • Make minor adjustments/repairs to HVAC systems, electrical lighting and outlet installations/services, plumbing faucet/fixture repairs, drain maintenance.
  • Perform patient care equipment maintenance.
  • Conduct mechanical system rounds/inspections/monitoring.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Troubleshoot minor equipment/system problems as assigned.
  • Provide mechanical troubleshooting support for all other trade fields.
  • Utilize tools and equipment such as power drills, saws, mechanical sockets/wrenches, meters, test gauge analyzers equipment, welding equipment if certified.
  • Read, interpret, and utilize plans, schematic drawings, line diagrams, OEM manuals, specifications, and work orders.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance for non-essential mechanical equipment/systems.
  • Perform mechanical project work and assist other trades.
  • Communicate assigned project task needs, progress, and concerns with the customer and department leadership.
  • Perform tasks assigned during utility/equipment shutdowns.
  • Assist department leadership in managing mechanical contractors work activities.
  • Maintain regulatory compliance with ICRA and PICRA safety plans, lockout tag-out, confined space, MSDS, and all other regulatory programs.
  • Report all unsafe conditions to immediate supervisor.
  • Document all work performed and all training received (or given).
  • Communicate with all departmental / interdepartmental staff.
